A Celebration for Our Best Friends

Deb Hankin at Dog Days of Summer to benefit the Main Line Animal Rescue.
Two weeks ago on a Wednesday, Main Line Animal Rescue held a special evening of combined talents at The Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. The evening was highlighted with a view of Dog Days of Summer by Jamie Wyeth, as well as meeting the artist.

The Wyeth's Jack Russell
This was made possible by two loyal friends of MLAR, Mrs. J. Maxwell Moran and her daughter Betsy Moran Legnini. More than 300 guests toured the exhibition with Victoria Wyeth, niece of Jamie and Phylllis Wyeth.

In the world of animal welfare, Main Line Animal Rescue continues to make a significant contribution by each year rescuing and finding homes for hundreds of unwanted animals. All of the dogs and cats are spayed and neutered prior to placement and receive any and all necessary medical care.

MLAR is approaching its 10th anniversary and its volunteers and supporters are eagerly looking forward to settling into their new home nestled in beautiful Chester County, Pennsylvania. With unlimited potential to meet the vision of MLAR’s founder, Bill Smith and his volunteers, a $2.3 million capital campaign “Raising the Woof” was announced by co-chairs Anne Hamilton and Christine Martinelli.

The funds will be used to build a desperately needed new kennel and renovate existing structures which will house the future home of a spay neuter clinic as well as a training center.
Our many animals come to Main Line Animal Rescue (SUCH AS THE NEWEST RESCUES PICTURED ABOVE) from a variety of sources, some from families who heartbreakingly must surrender them due to illness, death or relocation, some arrive from “breeding facilities” when they no longer are of “use” and yet others are abuse cases, brought in by animal control officers. Some stay for a few days and others much longer…all awaiting a second chance to once again be an integral part of someone’s family.

Chloe opened its doors to celebrate the opening of its third U.S. boutique at Bal Harbour Shops in Miami. Chloe, founded in Paris in 1952, is famous for their blend of ultra feminine yet streetwise women’s collections. In other words, hip. And chic.

In the past, the Chloe line has been graced with designs by Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, and Phoebe Philo. Following Philo’s departure, Paolo Melim Andersson has filled the coveted role of chief designer.

That night, celebs, supermodels, socialites, and scenesters shopped the Spring/Summer 07 collection, snacked on delectable hors d’oeuvres, sipped cocktails, and entered a drawing to win one of three fabulous shopping sprees.  With over $20,000 in sales, approximately $2,000 was donated to the THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION OF SOUTHERN FLORIDA, which helps fulfill the dreams of critically ill children.

In the crowd: Lazaro Arias, Elisha Cuthbertm Ines Rivero; Sky Nellor; a very pregnant Allison Weiss Brady, who bought gifts at Chloe and left midway through the event to buy more gifts at Fendi for her friends hosting her baby shower that weekend, Lydia Prio-Touzet, Cat Power; Lana Bernstein, Julie Dill; Leticia Grendene;  Miami Herald Home Design’s Sarah Harrelson, Tiffany Markofsky; WSVN’s Belkys Nerey, Loren Ridinger, Kim Wood; andVogue Latinoamerica’s Kim Caceres.
