With the international culturati captivated by Design Miami's annual summer stint in Basel, what better time to visit Miami's Design District than Poltrona Frau Group-Cultured magazine's event celebrating Milan architect-designer Mario Bellini's fifty-year collaboration with Cassina. Poltrona Frau's Giampiero di Persia and Cultured's Sarah Harrelson welcomed a showroom full of guests to meet Bellini and introduce two additions to Bellini's iconic Cab Chair Collection — the Cab night bed and the Cab lounge armchair. Originally designed in 1977, Bellini's Cab chair has been one of Cassina's best-sellers with more than 500,000 produced since it was first designed in 1977.

Founded in 1927, Cassina has been at the vanguard of Italian commercial and industrial design. In 1964, Cassina acquired the exclusive rights to produce four models designed by Le Corbusier together with Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand. The collection expanded to include some of the most iconic furniture by the great architects of modern classics. Working in close collaboration with the heirs and foundations, Cassina added designs by: Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, Charles R. Mackintosh, E. Gunnar Asplund, Frank Lloyd Wright, Charlotte Perriand, and Franco Albini. Today, Cassina showcases contemporary Italian and international designers including: Mario Bellini, Rodolfo Dordoni, Piero Lissoni, Vico Magistretti, Luca Nichetto, Gaetano Pesce, Gio Ponti and Philippe Starck.
