Beauty Spotlight: Sarah Arison

Blink and you’ll miss her for Sarah Arison is always on the move. Fueled by her passion for the arts, the striking 31-year-old Miami native can usually be found on a plane. In between jaunts to five cities on three continents, the young philanthropist recently took a rare break to enthuse about her long-time support of emerging artists, her newfound role as film producer and some very exciting upcoming events (all the while dishing about her beauty routine, of course).

Sarah Arison
is President of the Arison Arts Foundation, a private grantmaking organization that provides support for emerging artists and the institutions that foster them.

She is also trustee of the National YoungArts Foundation, New World Symphony, MoMA PS1 and American Ballet Theater; and a member of the Young Collectors Council of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

In addition, she is a founding member of the Americas Foundation for the Serpentine Gallery.
To start with, there’s the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of a documentary she helped produce – The First Monday in May – chronicling the creation of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute blockbuster exhibition, China: Through the Looking Glass. And this summer, the statuesque blonde will be celebrating her nuptials in that most romantic of cities, Venice. Glamorous? Certainly. High maintenance? Definitely not. Here, the It Girl reveals the unfussy routine that keeps her glowing while on the go.

In a new career as a film producer, Sarah’s first feature film, Desert Dancer, starring Freida Pinto, debuted in 2015.  Her second film, a documentary called The First Monday in May, will be opening the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016.   The production tracks the creation of the MET Costume Institute’s show China:  Through the Looking Glass and the 2015 MET gala, arguably fashion’s biggest night of the year.  Sarah has fashion credentials herself having spent the better part of a decade working at W Magazine and with brands such as Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, David Yurman, Estee Lauder and Alberta Ferretti.

Skin Care
"I clean my face with Cetaphil.  I’m also a huge fan of the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes because you can clean your face wherever you are and you don’t have to worry about the 3 oz travel limit or about a liquid exploding in your luggage."
"I moisturize with Sunday Riley products.  When you’re constantly on a plane, you need a really good eye cream and the Start Over Active Gel Cream is it for me.  I also love the Juno Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil.  It’s really moisturizing without being heavy and without clogging pores.  It leaves my skin soft and hydrated.  My sunscreen is by Elta MD."

"For my body, I really like the Body Soufflé from MorrocanOil.  It’s light but hydrating."

"I don’t use foundation. I like to apply Burberry’s Fresh Glow Nude Radiance for a bit of a glow. Then I add Laura Mercier’s Smooth Finish Foundation Powder and top it off with Guerlain’s Terracotta Light Bronzer."

"When it comes to makeup, I’ve never been able to wear a dark lip. I feel like I’m using my mom’s makeup when I do that. I love the Dior Lip Maximizer gloss. It gives a sheer splash of color and also plumps. I buy it in bulk."

"I line my eyes with Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. I call it “eyeliner for dummies” because it’s so easy to use. And, you can apply it lightly for day and amp it up for night.  I finish with some black mascara like Diorshow and that’s it."

Hair Care
"I wash my hair with Bumble and Bumble’s Gentle shampoo and condition with Bumble and Bumble’s Super Rich conditioner."
"I have the most amazing colorist – Lisa Harrington at the Ruby 6 salon on the Lower East Side. I found out about her from a friend who had the best blonde hair color I’ve ever seen. Lisa works with your natural color and I really like that. For haircuts, I go to Kenji at the Frédéric Fekkai salon at Bendel’s."

Diet and Fitness
"I live a block away from SoulCycle and for me, it’s the easiest, quickest way of getting a good workout. I also like to do Vinyasa yoga. I like that you’re constantly moving. You get the benefits of yoga, but it’s more intense. I’m often drenched at the end of a class. I’m a member at Equinox. They have really good yoga classes."

Other Services
"My biggest beauty must is Nousha. She’s a nurse who works with two plastic surgeons. I go to her for laser treatments every couple of months. She puts together a personalized anti-aging regimen. Everything she does is subtle and gentle. You can go to a meeting right after one of her treatments. Nousha is the reason that people compliment me on my skin. It’s pretty unusual for someone like me who travels so much to have good skin. And my answer is Nousha."
Expert Tip: To avoid hair static – so prevalent in the dry winter air – spray hairspray on a brush, quickly whisk it through your hair before the spray dries and voilà, no more static!
