A World of Possibilities: Reach Out and Read of Greater New York's Annual Benefit and Auction
Join us for ‘A World of Possibilities,’ a fun evening of music, live & silent auctions, and an award ceremony honoring our 2012 Literacy Champions: Richard Robinson, President and CEO of Scholastic Inc., and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Shiba Russell, Anchor/Reporter, NBC4 New York, will preside as Mistress of Ceremonies, and Miss Teen USA, Danielle Doty, will attend as a special guest.
Guests will enjoy a live steel pan performance and beautiful night views of the New York Harbor at the Bridgewaters Museum Club in the South Street Seaport. The Auction Committee, chaired by People StyleWatch Editor Susan Kaufman, has put together a great list of auction items, including luxury vacations, designer handbags and jewelry, original artwork, and celebrity experiences. There will also be an online auction hosted by CharityBuzz.com, which will go live on May 2nd.
Reach Out and Read is an innovative program that partners with pediatricians to provide free, new books to America's youngest and neediest children and literacy guidance to their parents, with the goal of ensuring children receive early and frequent exposure to books so that they start school ready to learn.
