So,
my detailed horoscope for the next year ... it being my birthday
month, was very positive, in both my work life and romance. Now let’s
all cross our fingers.
THE
SEARCH FOR MR. ADEQUATE
Part 46
By Susan Silver
There are some interesting things
on the burner, work wise, which I will be telling you about,
but for now, let’s
talk about love. Or lack of it.
The new date, previously mentioned, will not be our Mr. Adequate.
No details will be forthcoming because I will never get another
date if I tell. But suffice to say, we are moving on. “We” … meaning
you and me, Dear Readers.
Meanwhile, I’ve been going to some fun things and ‘hope
springs’ and all that. Although this year I am not going
to a lot of holiday parties, she said hinting.
A group went to the theater. Some of us, well all of us, left
after the first act. “Seascape” equals “escape.” Sorry,
Mr. Albee. And yes, Frances Sternhagen is sublime. Somehow the
married couples in my group were not interested in dealing with
the vagaries of a long marriage, and those of us who were single,
ie. me, found it just too damn depressing to be contemplating
the end of life with or without relationship. As to the creatures
who appear at the end of Act I, the lizards … one can only
imagine their insights, and if anyone has lasted till the end,
please let me know if they were interesting.
Stopped in to the Pajama Program cocktail party and was gratified
that more of you really Dear Readers have sent in contributions.
This is such a worthwhile cause, giving pj’s to kids in
foster homes. Thank you for your goodness and if any more of
you are interested, please do so and let them know you saw it
here. (www.pajamaprogram.org)
I did have an interesting party to go to at Lincoln Center Jazz
Club. My friend, the esteemed jazz critic and writer Stanley
Crouch, was celebrating his birthday. We Sags are cool. And this
party was way cool!
I’d never been there and it has three venues for concerts.
And pardon me but we had a PRIVATE concert by Winton Marsalis
playing “Happy Birthday” with a superb jazz trio.
Well, actually Stanley had it. And I met some very interesting
people. A real eclectic mix.
And, she says ‘braggin on herself’ (as our Prez Bill
used to say) I had on what I thought might be a jazz appropriate
outfit … black pants with high boots and a black leather
top and yes I looked hot! So hot that I met yet another young
guy! Tall, good looking and a pilot. But wayyyy tooo young. Although
it would have been nice to get the free upgrades.
On the friend front, just to keep you posted: Deb still has some
fantasy about Mr. Magic although since she told me about the
head injury rendering him unable to ‘feel feelings’ … I
know … it’s weird, I have sort of stopped listening
to what she says about him. Although he lately he did utter the
phrase “Calgon … take me away” to say things
were not going his way.(Gay? Yeahhhh.)
Stan is very blue having said goodbye to the girlfriend who did
take the job which puts her into g-u country. (Geographically
unsuitable for you who don’t remember those old high school
phrases.) Although he is winging to London for a very famous
fete which I am not allowed to reference but, don’t feel
sorry for him. We were not invited!
Lizzie is sick, literally. She and I both were fighting off sinus
infections and while mine is on the mend, hers is just starting.
Plus I know she is upset she never heard from the neighbor guy
who cancelled the lunch date.
I am woefully behind in my movies and will be catching up in
the next few days before I head off to California and Hawaii.
And yes, it will be nice to have sun. But listen up New Yorkers,
this is not cold! I know you all think it is, but having grown
up in Milwaukee and gone to college in Chicago, I know from cold!
This is nice and crisp. I even walked part way home from Stanley’s
party.
And, just to reiterate, am still available for last minute invites
