|The show, On the Money, (January 23-May 24, 2009) features approximately 80 original drawings by many of The New Yorker's talented artists who over the years have tackled the theme of money and the many ways it affects our lives.

Oil Sketches from the Thaw Collection
Also at the Morgan, an exhibition of thirty paintings -- sketches really -- of scenic pleasures: clouds, sunrises and sunsets, storms, waterfalls, trees and mountains. In today’s world, painters in search of a landscape might be tempted go out and capture the transitory moment on a digital returning to their studios to produce the finished masterpiece.

|Back in the 18th century, and into the early 1900s, it was different. Most of the neo-classical pioneers went to the scene toting their brushes and oil paints in a rectangular wooden box. They worked quickly, rendering sketches in oil on paper, sometimes on canvas.|
