It is exciting and fitting that in our continuing
What2WearWhere series, we are featuring The European Fine Art Fair know in art jargon as TEFAF. New York Social Diary has been covering this coveted expo for years, long before it was a fixture on the New York scene.

Opening Night of TEFAF RETURNS on May 3rd benefits The Society Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and features the world's most illustrious dealers who specialize in Modern and Contemporary Art and Design. In addition, a small number of dealers will exhibit jewelry, African & Oceanic art, and antiquities.
"We are thrilled to partner with the world's leading art fair to host The Opening Night for a second time," said Lavinia Branca Snyder, president of The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering. "This special evening not only brings together the worlds of art and philanthropy, but it actively supports the important programs and initiatives at MSK."
Amanda Ross, Lavinia Branca Snyder, Madelon Strijbos, and Caryn Zucker.
Michael Plummer, managing co-director of TEFAF New York also expressed his excitement, "We greatly admire the work of The Society, and are pleased to highlight this organization that also shares the values of being inspired, passionate, and forward-thinking.

As Vice Secretary of The Society, Hilary'is looking forward to stepping out in style.

HILARY: I am excited to see the beautiful Modern and Contemporary pieces that will be on display at the Armory. TEFAF has a flair for transforming its settings and this night will not fail to impress. As a member of the Society I am thrilled that this evening will benefit MSK. With modern art on my mind, I thought it would be fitting to wear something more graphic in design to the event. Ruffles are big this season and hide multiple flaws and an a-line dress is always flattering. The bold colors of these dresses popped for me and will definitely stand out in a crowd. But if color is not your thing I would recommend adding a bright purse or colorful jewelry to a LBD to spice up your look.

KAREN: This is such a wonderful event for lovers of quality and beauty, making it fun to find this trio of festive frocks. Recently, I had a conversation with DPC regarding body types and how each of us has a part or two that we like to camouflage with fashion. With that conversation in mind, I decided to feature three different looks for Opening Night. My starting point was to have a bit of "Art World Black" but to pop a detail, pattern or feature that keeps it updated and relevant for the contemporary event.

The Halston Off Shoulder Print is a style that can be worn for any body type, but is especially flattering for full figured women or those with the Pear Shape, that is, larger on bottom than top. If this is you, join the club — about 90% of women are in this category. For those lucky Long and Lean Shapes, Carmen Marc Valvo's Embellished halter will be quite flattering, creating interest and curves to a slender silhouette. The Elie Tahari feminine sheath is recommended for an Hourglass Figure, evenly curved on top and bottom.
Dresses: Halston Heritage Printed Off-The-Shoulder Dress; $325  /  Carmen Marc Valvo Dot Cocktail Dress; $650  /  Elie Tahari Caroline Crochet Dress; $398
And while this is a naturally seductive shape, we don't recommend overplaying the curves by going to tight. One of our precepts in W2WW's Top Ten Tips for Dressing is, "If you think something is too tight — it is! Better to buy one size larger and have it altered than to wear something that is not comfortable." The point of dressing up is to make you feel beautiful and confident!

To accessorize, I chose classic black patent leather pumps, that reflect brightly without stealing the show. I adore the scale of these LeLe Sadoughi earrings for making a sophisticated statement. And this Fendi chain bag conveniently hangs on your shoulder so you can sip and nibble while shopping for art. And you must see their chic and clever bag straps which are everywhere this season.
