They launched RL Wilson's new book, Silk and Steel Women at Arms, (Random House), appropriately at the flagship store of one of the world's finest and oldest gunmakers: Holland & Holland in London.

Among the women present were Piffa Schroder, Diana Keith Neal and Wendy Dyson — all members of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers (founded in 1637). Several lords and ladies were among the large crowd of elegantly attired shooters on hand, as well as a number of women present were featured in the book.

Also attending was Peter Hawkins, Antique Arms and Armor expert for Christie's, who was extremely helpful to the author in the complex 125,000 word project. The book is 340 pages, with over 3,500 images, many in complicated collages by the legendary Peter Beard.

Larry Wilson is author of 45 books and is the most published author in the history of firearms. Six of his books have featured collages by Peter Beard.

His career began with internships at the Wadsworth Atheneum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the Royal Armouries, H.M. Tower of London.
Frequently seen on the History Channel, he was co-executive producer, with the Hon. William E. Simon, Sr., of "In the Blood," a documentary film directed by George Butler ("Pumping Iron") on hunting and conservation - filmed in Africa with Theodore Roosevelt IV and his son, TR V.

In the spring of 2003, Wilson's alma mater, Carleton College, presented a retrospective display of his varied career, which has included vintage automobile racing, and hunting expeditions on five continents.

Silk and Steel Women at Arms is available at book stores, and other on-line sources; or for a signed copy with a 4-page insert (featuring a special Introduction by Her Grace The Duchess of Northumberland), copies are available directly from the author at $65 postpaid; toll free order number - (866) 278-2888; mastercard/visa/AmEx; or directly from the author at 1730 Kearny St, San Francisco CA 94133.
