Last Tuesday GreeneStreet Films co-heads Fisher Stevens and John Penotti hosted a luncheon at Elaine’s for author Adam Davies on the publication of his second novel "Goodbye Lemon" got quite a crowd. Stevens and Penotti's GreeneStreet Films is producing the film of Davies' first novel "The Frog King" which will be directed as his first feature film by Darren ("Sex and the City") Star.
"Goodbye Lemon"--which was selected by Vanity Fair as a "Hot Type" in their August issue and Harper’s Bazaar on their "Hot List" in their August issue--has already gone into a second printing prior to publication due to the great advanced word.
Cari and Matthew Modine were there prior to Matthew's leaving for the desert to join the "Soldier Ride" to ride his bike with wounded soldiers who have returned from Iraq.
Tony Award-winning star of "History Boys" Richard Griffiths and his wife Heather were there having just arrived from London where Richard spent a week filming in the newest Harry Potter movie--having taken a week off from "History Boys"--Griffiths and Modine co-starred in the film "Opa!" made in Greece which will be released shortly.
Marisa Berenson--who will make three films in France before the end of the year--was there with her new next-door neighbor and great friend Dani Jucaud, the American correspondent for Paris Match. Also with them was the beautiful Stephanie Labeille, American head of marketing for Chopard, the jewelry makers. Kim Garfunkel, wife of Art Garfunkel, was there with their seven-month old son Beau.
Linda Fiorentino whose "The Last Seduction" was one of the greatest movies ever was there with her sister Terry Christie, ICM's Esther Newberg, one of the top literary agents in the world (she's Davies' agent), ABC-TV "Nightline"'s Cynthia McFadden and "Fur" producer Bonnie Timmermann all managed to get a couple of hours from their workdays to dine on Caesar's Salad, Penne a la Vodka, and chicken in a French mustard sauce prepared by Elaine's chef Barry Wildman.
