Hampton days and nights

Dancing at the Junior Council of Safe Horizon's kick-off event in East Hampton.

The Junior Council of Safe Horizon, the nation’s leading victim assistance organization, held their first kick off event for over 180 supporters a week ago Saturday, hosted at the East Hampton home of Board Member Jane Rivkin. While the Emmys kept fellow board members Stephanie March and Mariska Hargitay from attending the event, Safe Horizon’s Associate Vice President, Youth Programs David Nish and Junior Council Co-chairs Anna Richardson and John Ordway spoke about Safe Horizon’s critical work and welcomed guests and Junior Council members Sam Goodyear, Joanna Kornfeld, Blair Morris, Bradford Nugent, Sara Pollack, Leila Rastegar, Loryn Schwade, Vijay Shroff, Anne Trott, Lauren Weinstein, and Ashley Musfeldt.

As the sun made an unexpected appearance that evening, the Mexican themed event was the perfect setting for guests to mingle, enjoy frozen margaritas and hors d’oeuvres by Zarela of Zarela’s restaurant in Manhattan, white wine by Barefoot Wine, and to learn about an organization that’s moving victims of violence from crisis to confidence.

Members of the Junior Council have dedicated their time this past spring and summer to learn about Safe Horizon through the organization’s community, cultivation and fundraising events and continue to work on building a solid young donor base for Safe Horizon.

Future plans for the Junior Council include a fall 2006 fundraising kick-off event for Justice Served, In our own words. The event will be held on November 2nd at Henri Bendel in New York City. Additional fundraising and community awareness events will be held throughout the fall and winter as well. On the last Thursday afternoon of August, Jaguar, the luxury car maker and Hogan, the accessories collection for men and women created by Diego Della Valle (also creator of Tod’s brand) sponsored a party where several high-profile guest drivers explored secret locations and off-the-map estates for “enchanted” gatherings with other hosts of the event which showcased the 2007 Jaguar XK.

The drivers all met at the former summer estate of the Bouvier family where Jacqueline Onassis and her sister Lee Radziwill summered until their mother and father divorced. From there the drivers set out on the “Drive Gorgeus” rally which led them to the Church estate in Montauk and finaly back to the Bouvier estate for victory cocktails and a clambake dinner where the drivers were given a limited edition, one-of-a-kind “Jag Bag” that Hogan designed especially for the occasion.

Participating in the afternoon event were Euan Rellie and Lucy Sykes, Kelly Klein, Gillian Miniter, Fabian and Martina Basabe, Greg Calego, Luigi Tadini, Patrick McMullan, Tom Flicia, Fabiola Beracasa.
