The New York City Ballet held its annual Luncheon at Lincoln Center last Thursday in honor of Principal Dancer Kyra Nichols who will be ending her career with The NYCB in June. Ms. Nichols is renowned  for the crystalline purity of her dancing, her innate classicism and musicality, and the radiant warmth she projects on and offstage. These qualities have made her a favorite with audiences and critics alike.

The luncheon program “In Honor of Kyra” was a tribute to Ms. Nichols’ extraordinary career. CNBC Anchorwoman and New York City Ballet Board Member Maria Bartiromo moderated the program. On this special occasion, there were reminiscences with Kyra and some of her partners; Sean Lavery, Philip Neal, and Damian Woetzel.  Guests were also shown excerpts of a few of her emblematic roles including Other Dances and “Spring” from The Four Seasons. And there was a surprise performance from Ms. Nichols in Pavane and Liebeslieder Walzer

The program also included the announcement of the 2006-2007 Janice Levin Dancer Honoree, soloist Tiler Peck.

Benefit Chairmen were Celeste Boele, Whitney Murphy, Susan Tabak, and Katie von Strasser. Corporate Chairman was Marc Hruschka,

President and Chief Executive Officer, Chopard who sponsored the luncheon. Chopard also provided a display of some of their luxurious jewels and precision timepieces at the luncheon, just to keep everyone in the mood.

There were 750 guests who helped raise $450,000 for the NYCB. Among the guests were Nina Griscom, Susan Tabak, Tiler Peck, Katie von Strasser, Elizabeth Vargas, Gigi Mortimer, Celeste Boele, Whitney Murphy, Kate Betts, Tory Burch, Sterling Hytin, Alexandra Lebenthal, Far Aracino Fendi, Lindsey and Eric Nederlander, Coco and Arie Kopelman, Barbara Cirvka, Gretchen Grisanti, Robert Couturier, Meera Ghandi, Barbara Tober, Sandy Hill and Michele Herbert.
