Phoebe Eaton is a beautiful young Manhattan journalist who looks
like she could be perfect casting for a movie about a beautiful young Manhattan
journalist. At the time of the party (late October 2004) she’s been busy
covering the Danny Pelosi trial out in the Hamptons. (Pelosi
is the guy who is being tried for beating to death the Wall Street tycoon Ted
Ammon in his East Hampton house a few years ago, and then marrying his
centimillionaire widow, since deceased from cancer, Generosa Ammon).
Phoebe has an ethereal, winsome manner about her, the kind of personality you
might expect to write romantic novels (or maybe living in them). In real Manhattan
life, however, she’s a hardhitting – not mean, mind you – and
trenchant journalist and if the subject has a few or maybe a lot of blemishes
showing (or lurking) Phoebe Eaton is very likely to report them in a way that
you won’t forget.
Most recently she’s published pieces in New York Magazine — “How
Much Is That In Rubles?” — the story about the Russian/American princess
whose father rented for her the Denise Rich Southampton summer
house for more than a half million; “Kimora Lee Simmons,
the New Queen of Conspicuous Consumption”; “The Madame Defarge of
the New York Post (Andrea Peyser)”; and in the
Sunday New York Times magazine “Bachelor Number 1” about Tim
Jefferies, the London art dealer whose private life is as lustrous (with
celebrity girlfriends) as his art dealing. |
