 Monday roundup
| Monday at Capitale they staged the annual Dress
to Kilt fashion show, produced by “Friends of Scotland,” namely
Geoffrey Carroll, to promote a contemporary view of modern Scotland.
It was certainly
contemporary on Monday night with a big crowd gathered at the monumental
former bank morphed into an event venue/ nightclub. There was the
traditional, with some real Scotsmen, with bagpipes, with girls in
the skimpiest tartan get-ups you’ve ever seen, as well as some
of the more athletic (including Giants’ Mike Strahan) men stripping
down as they moved down the runway. It was an evening of catcalls,
whistled, laughter, stomping and applause. I started out with the
Digital backstage watching everyone getting ready. Lots of hair and
make-up. There was a bar set up there by Johnnie Walker (the show’s
main sponsoer – Victoria’s Secret also sponsored a segment).
New York’s most famous TV star, hotelier, developer and casino
owner Donald Trump appeared (his daughter Ivanka was model) because
he was one of the two dozen “judges” chosen to select
the winning get-ups. That didn’t really pan out. Everyone was
good and there really wasn’t a contest. |
| Georgette Mosbacher entertained the troops in her laid-back
chic style on Monday night at her grand and elegant Fifth Avenue apartment
with
a book party for her friend Christopher Buckley and his hilarious
new book Boomsday. Big crowd of friends, fans and well-wishers. Joanne
and Roberto de Guardiola, Felicia Taylor, Patricia Patterson, Couri
Hay, Taki Theodoracopoulos, Somers and Jonathan Farkas, Chuck Pfeiffer,
Benedetta and Marina Pignatelli, Betsy Perry, Virginia Coleman, Tina
Brown, Nancy Collins, Lloyd Grove, Lisa Crosby, Lynn Paulsin, Catherine
Saxton, Joan Collins and Percy Gibson. |
