| The Madison Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) announced plans at a kick-off reception for their first annual Platinum Jewels In Bloom event scheduled for April 8-17, 2010, to benefit the Central Park Conservancy. The kick-off was hosted by Elizabeth Stribling, in a Stribling & Associates LTD townhouse at 132 East 62nd Street. The guest list included Gillian Miniter, president of the Women’s Committee of the Central Park Conservancy, Douglas Blonsky, president of Central Park Conservancy and Matthew A. Bauer, president of the Madison Avenue BID. A preview of the ultimate Platinum Jewels in Bloom floral display was created by Marian Kelly Fine Flowers and featured a strategically placed 95 carat platinum and white diamond flower brooch from GRAFF. Guests were entertained by pianist Ron Oswanksi and passed trays with fresh flowers and white wine were served by Anstice Carroll Catering. Platinum Jewels in Bloom is a multi-tiered, 10-day celebration highlighting Madison Avenue as one of the world’s premiere luxury jewelry retail destinations that will showcase the jewelry brands that have established flagship boutiques on Madison Avenue. |

| The event is designed to make Madison Avenue bloom with Central Park flowers and the world’s most exquisite platinum jewelry creating a veritable flower show in the windows and in the participating premiere boutiques that reside in the Madison Avenue BID between East 57th and East 86th Streets. The floral arrangements will be curated by the horticulturalists of the Central Park Conservancy and will feature strategically placed fine jewelry that focuses on platinum. In addition, each participating boutique has the opportunity to host private receptions hosted by a patron of the Central Park Conservancy. A portion of sales will be donated to the Central Park Conservancy in celebration of its 30th Anniversary. The roster of participating jewelry boutiques to date includes Aaron Basha, Baccarat, Canturi Jewels, Cartier, Chopard, Christofle, Damiani, David Yurman, DeGrisogono, Di Modolo, DuMont Estate Jewelry, Graff, Jaded, Kwiat, Leviev, Mauboussin, Pattrizzi & Co. | More than 400 guests attended Legends 2009, Pratt Institute’s largest annual scholarship benefit, which raised $400,000 for student scholarships. Ira Harris, founder of the Harris Obesity Prevention Effort (HOPE) at the NYU Langone Medical Center; and Lee H. Perlman, president of GNYHA Ventures, Inc.; for their respective contributions to improving health care in New York. The awards were presented at the United Hospital Fund’s annual gala, held at the Waldorf-Astoria. Drawing a record crowd of more than 900, the event marked the opening of the Fund’s 131st fund-raising campaign to support the Fund’s work to shape positive change in health care in New York. |
