| Once a year, the good folks of the Irish Georgian Society make the trek from Dublin across the pond to gather support for their mission, which is: preserving and conserving Ireland’s great historic homes, castles and public buildings. Without the Society, many of these buildings are too often either demolished by neglect or developer’s wrecking ball. This year’s dinner raised funds to restore the City Assembly Building on South William Street in Dublin. |

| And so it was in the cozy confines of one of the city’s most august clubs (which goes unnamed because said club promotes the ancient and now risible tradition of insisting on the eschewing its name in print) that the Irish Georgian Society’s supporters gathered with the ever-present President, Desmond Fitzgerald, Knight of Glin, Robert O’Byrne, the IGS’s erudite director and the evening’s signature speaker, Patrick Guinness, of brewery fame and fortune and the son of the Society’s founder, Desmond Guinness. |

| The who’s who of mothers and daughters made the difference at the launch of Tea Party Angels in New York on Saturday, November 7th. Because of Tea Party Angels and its founder, Cheryl Beck, girls around the country will be hosting tea parties with a mission to create awareness of the needs of girls in poor countries, raise money for girls’ education around the world, and also teach girls social responsibility and foster a spirit of giving, understanding and at the same time have fun. Christie Brinkley and her daughter Sailor, were on board as Honorary Angels to kick off the festivities. Christie’s son Jack even made a special appearance. Other mothers and daughters on hand were CBS 2 Evening News anchor, Kristine Johnson, as the Host and her daughter Ava; Danielle and Zoe Ganek, Webb Egerton and her girls Avery and Brooke Edgerton-Warburton, Barbette Smith and her daughter Hadley. |

Angel Advisory Committee members included Eleanora Kennedy and her daughter Anna Kennedy Safir, as well as event planner, the extraordinary (and I don’t mean maybe) Polly Onet. Emerald-Angel Young, who is currently appearing as Jamie Foxx’s daughter in the feature “Law Abiding Citizen” brought her mother and a friend to help with the mission. Also showing his support was John Wood, author of Leaving Microsoft to Change the World, which provided the initial inspiration to Beck for Tea Party Angels. Linda Garnett and her daughter Isabelle, Georgica Griscom, Lara Trafalet and daughter Charlotte also were sipping tea. |

| Tea Party Angels is a national fundraising initiative designed for mothers and daughters to use tea parties to raise money for girls’ education around the world and at the same time teach girls social responsibility. Tea Party Angels will provide a turn-key, tea party kit that is available on its Web site and the money will be raised by donations brought by the girls attending the tea party. Each girl invited to the tea party will be asked by her mom to do a chore for a week that will earn her the money to donate to the tea party giving her a sense of empowerment. During the Tea Party an inspirational DVD will be played for girls to learn more about the program. For more information, visit, www.TeaPartyAngels.org. Tea Party Angels is fiscally sponsored by MADRE a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. |

Hosted by supermodel Veronica Webb, five one-of-a-kind trashcans designed by David Rockwell, Lady Bunny, Ralph Lauren, Yoko Ono, and Veronica Webb were part of a live auction to benefit DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. A crowd of top celebrities, socialites and designers including David Rockwell, David Stark, Evette Rios, Helena Christensen and Nigel Barker filled the Design Within Reach flagship store in SoHo with a graphic display of the 35 re-designed and elaborately decorated VIPP bins. |

| Nigel Barker and Veronica Webb auctioned off David Rockwell’s innovative, light-up waste bin for $6,500. Yoko Ono’s simplistic yet inspirational bin was sold for $3,400. Ralph Lauren’s classic leather receptacle, introduced by Ami James, was well worth its $3,000 bid. Lady Bunny’s eye-popping trashcan was auctioned off for $1,100 with the help of Evette Rios, but the steal of the evening went to the winner of Veronica Webb’s Africa-inspired waste bin (Robert Lee Morris tribal jewelry included!), which sold for a whopping $7,500. “Seventy years ago when my grandfather designed the first VIPP bin for my grandmother’s hair salon, I never imaged that years later, top celebrities and designers would be able to transform them into elaborate works of art,” said Kasper Egelund, president of VIPP USA Inc. “We are very excited to have such a committed and dynamic group of designers and artists on board for this event,” said David Sheppard, Executive Director of DIFFA. “With this group of talented individuals DIFFA will be able to raise significant funds to grant to worthy organizations providing preventive HIV/AIDS education and direct care services.” Overall, the event raised over $50,000 for DIFFA. |
