Musings on the Shopping Rialto: Larry Pettinelli, President of Patek Philippe USA on “The Values of a Family Watch Company: “It's about sharing the Stern family’s passion and values for watch making and its devotion to horological preservation with watch enthusiasts (and collectors) around the world. The US is the single largest world market for Patek Philippe time pieces.”

.... Meanwhile, Swifty’s menu from chef Stephen Attoe, comfort-food par excellence tells NYSD, "This spring’s seafood specials include shad roe served with smoked bacon, soft shell crabs sautéed and served with our creamed spinach and classic paella.” Yum. “And for desserts, Grand Marnier soufflé, strawberry upside down cake and sour cream apple pie?” One order, four forks please.

Meanwhile Attoe’s partner Robert Caravaggi reminds: "Now that spring is here, we would like to thank our customers for their loyalty to Swifty's and Swifty's catering. We have the nicest customers in the world." Not to mention, now that spring is here and summer is a comin’ in, they’ve had a lot of very convivial private parties in the backroom at Swifty’s. But where’s the Dover Sole?

Lorenzo Side Chair from QDG Design.
.... What’s new with Nan Quick, Owner of QDG Designs: “We’re creating unique cloth backdrops to use for my furniture displays at the Boothbay Botanical Gardens in Birmingham, England.” They are: giant blow-ups of 18th century etchings of the gardens at Villa d'Este in Tivoli printed on translucent satin panels measuring 8 feet high and 20 feet long. Picture this: Color photos of QDG’s furniture will be superimposed over the etchings – for example, a Chalice planter perched atop a mountain, a Dining Table Set is tucked into clouds, a giant Tiara Chair dwarfs the etching's dancers.” Beautiful to behold

.... Dan Sudnick of TAPS reminds: “This call log from a bereaved mom into our 800 number reflects a sample of what we handle day in and day out. It’s TAPS version of responding to the 3 am phone call -- which is when we typically receive most of our initial calls.” Caller XXX XXXXX: CID xxxxxxxxxx Area Code & Phone# xxx xxx xxxx. Richard Steinberg, Senior Managing Director of Warburg Realty: "Now that the weather has softened, contrary to public opinion there are no bubbles bursting in the New York real estate market. Buyers have been out there just waiting for the weather to get warmer before they make their quality of life purchase."

Compliments of ILevel, art placement + installation.
.... And speaking of springtime, David Kassel of Ilevel says: “Face it, it’s time to freshen up and rearrange the pictures. We’re seeing a new trend to reinvigorate home by simply moving pictures around. It's easy and dramatic."

Enough of this do-it-yourself when it comes to hanging pictures, puncturing walls, requiring new plasterjobs, everything all askew. Call ILevel and be done with it.

.... And slaves to Fashion Unite!" Eric Javits reminds: It's liberating for women to free up their time for more important issues. No one of substance cares about Fashion Trends and the women with the most style haven’t changed their look in forty years. Big hair, big sunglasses – They're set to go.”

…. And in keeping with the fashion theme, Russell and Lewis, co-owners of LMD Flowers say: “The latest color obsession is yellow, color of the moment.”

.... And fashion is lastingness: Speaking of color, “Green, green, green - it seems as if every executive, every company is talking about "going green" and how environmentally friendly they are ... or need to be. And each week brings another handful of new eco-focused conferences, seminars, and trade shows where we are securing high-profile speaking engagements for client executives. So, if you don't have one...time to "get green!" – Terry Catchpole, Catchpole

.... May’s Flowers in real estate bowers: "Springtime is usually the peak of our market,” says Kirk Henckels of Stribling & Associates, “however this is a very precarious time to be discussing luxury real estate. Whatever economic circumstances we face, we are going into them with very low levels of quality inventory and continued strong demand. This is not a scenario for a market plunge. It means that the economy may well improve before any significant decline in our market has time to develop. Meanwhile, the tulips continue to bloom."

Scene from the Olympia International Art & Antiques Fair.
"Those of you heading over to London for the Olympia International Art & Antiques Fair, don't forget to stop at The Electric Brasserie, Notting Hill, for a cool glass of chablis and delicious seafood platter, enjoy open air opera at Opera Holland Park, just a stone's throw away from the fair, or shop till you drop on King's Road with everything from interior shops to fashion boutiques. A good place to start is at the Duke of York's Square," says Freya Simms, the director of Olympia. "You could also make plans to see the latest British art talent at the Royal Academy's historic Summer Exhibition or visit The Wallace Collection, one of my favourite haunts, which is always a treat to visit.”

Joe Nye writes: “There is a lot being said these days about people meeting online. You might say I met Nan Quick of QDG online. Please come visit my showroom.”

"I had a very busy year, with trips to Paris, Moscow, London and Palm Beach. We just finished a very successful 2008 Spring International Art & Antiques Show at the Park Avenue Armory. For the first time ever, the much loved Designer Tables Showcase was open to the public, so everyone had a chance to enjoy the designers' beautiful creations." – M.L. "This time of year, around tax season, people are typically more aware that their unworn jewelry are dormant assets. This time of year we are busier than ever helping people convert these items into liquid currency" – Chris Delgatto, CEO of Circa

“One of our favorite and very single Bruce Springsteen fans from a very well known and influential Canadian family has attended over 70 Bruce Springsteen dates all over the globe. We have been auctioning tickets at www.charitybuzz.com to benefit Musicians on Call and he always sits up close or in the pit. He flew down on his plane for first row tickets for Bruce's private performance and after party on May 7th in Red Bank to benefit The Count Basie Theatre. We arranged for him to meet the recently single ex-wife of a very well known New Yorker – and another huge Bruce Springsteen fan. We always provide excellent customer service at www.charitybuzz.com – but this is the first online match between two very enthusiastic and very generous Bruce fans. Perhaps if the match is permanent, we can arrange for Bruce to play at their wedding!”Coppy Holzman, Charity Buzz
