Two weekends ago The New York Botanical Garden hosted its 15th annual Antique Garden Furniture Show and Sale. As the country's original and most important venue for quality garden antiques, the show is a must for leading collectors. They kicked it off with a Benefit Preview Party and Collectors' Plant Sale on the Thursday before. The show was loaded with the finest antique fountains, urns, statues, bird cages, benches, botanical prints, and rare gardening books displayed by exhibitors from around the country.
Caribbean Gardens: Journey to Paradise, The New York Botanical Garden's lush and colorful indoor exhibition, is presently on view in the Conservatory as well as the new LuEsther T. Mertz Library exhibition, Paradise in Print, in the William D. Rondina and Giovanni Foroni LoFaro Gallery. |

The First Lady of New York Silda Wall hosted Children for Children’s 7th annual The Art of Giving Benefit at Christie’s New York.
Ms. Wall was accompanied by her husband, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. Other guests included Kenneth Cole, Lisa Perry, New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein, Mad Money man Jim Cramer, Justin and Indre Rockefeller, Brad and Valerie Aston, Dana Buchman, Cynthia McFadden to honor Kathy Fuld, artist Kevin Bapp, Israel Soto and Christina Hu.
The annual benefit is the primary fundraiser for the non-profit organization founded in 1996. The evening also marked Ms. Wall’s first official event as the Governor’s wife.
Children for Children promotes hands-on youth volunteering programs and teaches the value of community involvement and civic engagement. The annual benefit raises funds to support its youth service programs and to purchase essential educational tools such as books, computers, science equipment and art materials for New York’s most under-resourced schools.
