The 2007 designers at the Greenwich Designer Showhouse

The inaugural Greenwich Designer Showhouse presented by NewAlliance Bank opened two weeks ago in a French manor-style mansion on 200 Stanwich Road. All proceeds will benefit Greenwich Hospital’s new Integrative Medicine Center.

The Greenwich Designer Showhouse is a showcase for America’s premiere design talent. 20 top interior designers from Greenwich and the New York metro area turned a mansion into a decorating masterpiece. This year’s Design Sponsors are Brunschwig & Fils, Christopher Peacock Cabinetry, Klaff’s and Mariani Gardens.

Greenwich Hospital is among the few hospitals nationwide offering a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient integrative medicine services.

The showhousewill be open to the public everyday through June 17, 2007, 10AM – 4PM. Children under six, infants, strollers and pets are not allowed in the Showhouse. On the First of May in the Hall of Flags at the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington, TAPS (The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) held its10th Annual TAPS Honor Guard Luncheon honoring those who support the families of our fallen heroes. The honored guest at this luncheon was writer/actor/attorney Ben Stein.

The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA) honored renowned American artist Brice Marden at the 12th annual Medal Award ceremony and gala dinner two weeks ago on May 7.

The Medal Award is given to an individual whose work furthers the development and understanding of contemporary art. Considered to be one of the finest artists of his generation, Brice Marden first received critical acclaim in the 1960s and ’70s for his minimalist monochrome panel paintings. In the mid-1980s he began producing calligraphy-inspired paintings featuring sinuous ribbons of color, and in the past decade he has produced color-intense, linear abstractions. While his work has evolved over his more than 40-year career, it continues to be celebrated for its emotional intensity and formal simplicity.

All proceeds from the Medal Award ceremony and gala dinner support student scholarships at the Museum School.
