Smack in the middle of the Spring social season

The Brooklyn Museum celebrates American High Style: Fashioning a National Collection, at its annual Brooklyn Ball.

We are smack in the middle of the Spring social season in New York with the daily calendar crowded with activities and events for charity, for the arts, for culture, for literature and for fun. Today’s party pictures are a full menu of the above in the past week.

For example, last Thursday the Brooklyn Museum held its annual Brooklyn Ball, honoring the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Co-chaired by Stephanie Ingrassia, Mario Batali and Susi Cahn, Hamish Bowles, Annie Leibovitz, Zac Posen, Carla Shen, Stefano Tonchi and Susan Weber, they were celebrating the partnership between the Museum and the Metropolitan Museum in creating the largest and most comprehensive costume collection in the world.

Then last Wednesday, the Drawing Center held its 2010 benefit Gala, celebrating the opening of the exhibition “Leon Golub: Live & Die Like a Lion?” They honored the career of Nancy Spero (Mrs. Golub) for her extraordinary contribution to the medium of drawing. More than 300 attended. Funds raised go to support the Center’s signature Viewing Program.
