| Lionel Barber, Editor of the Financial Times hosted a reception for Gillian Tett, now the US Managing Editor, at Hudson Terrace in New York. The FT is the only paper I know in New York that can give an interesting cocktail party. The atmosphere is convivial and there's a good mix of writers/reporters, business people, journalists. Gillian Tett is one of the paper's brightest (read: smartest) lights. The night's guests included John Ridding (CEO, Financial Times), Reggie Bartholomew (former Ambassador), Peter Brown (President, Brown Lloyd James), Paul Calello (CEO, Investment Banking, Credit-Suisse), Jon Corzine, Vartan Gregorian (President and Trustee, Carnegie Corporation), Tony James (President, The Blackstone Group), Shirley Lord, Steven Rattner, Trish Regan (Anchor, CNBC), Charlie Rose, Ralph Schlosstein (President and CEO, Evercore Partners Inc.), Paul Steiger (Editor-in-Chief, ProPublica), James Turley (Chairman and CEO, Ernst & Young), Amanda Urban, and Bill Rhodes (Senior Vice Chairman, Citigroup) |

They held a book launch at MoMA for Citizen You (Crown Publishers) by Jonathan Tisch, Loew’s Co-Chairman of the Board and a member of the Office of the President of Loew’s Corporation. Mr. Tisch is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of its subsidiary, Loews Hotels, and the author of two books.
In Citizen You, he reveals how “active citizens” use their professional skills to alleviate social problems.
The night's guest list was brimming with New York boldfacers including the presence of The Prez, William Jefferson Clinton. Mr. Clinton is usually the center of attention, and he clearly revels in the energy, and returns it like the perfect volley. |
