| Last Friday, Erica Wilson and her daughter Vanessa Kagan Diserio hosted a cocktail party and book signing in honor of members of the Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the authors of Park Avenue Potluck and Park Avenue Potluck CELEBRATIONS at Erica Wilson Needleworks on Nantucket. Menu tastings, including Mary Davidson’s crowd-pleasing ‘Quick Asparagus Hors d’oeuvres’ from Rizzoli’s Park Avenue Potluck CELEBRATIONS, were prepared with local seasonal produce by Orla and Michael LaScola’s American Seasons, renowned for its playful twists on American favorites and the beacon for the island’s taste setters in historic downtown Nantucket; and The Pearl, the beautiful island gem created by Angela and Seth Raynor, showcasing seasonal shellfish and seafood. Guests were greeted with silver trays of chardonnay from St. Francis Winery, and Erica Wilson’s neighbor on the 300-year-old cobbled footpath, Murray’s Liquor Store, mixed a special Nantucket Red cocktail to toast the authors. |

| Exquisite table top décor, with home accessories and tableware from Robin Bergland’s Trillium shop, were a snapshot right out of the books in the Park Avenue Potluck series, which have become as coveted for their beautiful coffee table elegance as they are for the easy family recipes, each tested by NY Times Food and Wine Contributor Florence Fabricant, who also edited the books. Many of the recipes and entertaining tips in the books were passed down from mothers and grandmothers to members of The Society; and at this family celebration on Nantucket, the authors inscribed books to the mothers and grandmothers of many of the guests who recounted their own childhood memories of family dinners and secret recipes that shaped their young lives. The heirloom recipes, with introductions personally chronicled by the contributors, and Ben Fink’s stunning photographs shot in the homes of members of The Society of MSKCC in New York and the Hamptons are resonating with people all over the world. Park Avenue Potluck CELEBRATIONS [1] has already become an international phenomenon in over 12 countries with their own culinary traditions including France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, South Korea, Japan and many more. |
