Last Wednesday night at the Pierre, Anne Hearst McInerney and her daughter Amanda Hearst chaired The Humane Society of the United States’ Make History Gala along with President and CEO of The HSUS, Wayne Pacelle.
The ballroom at the Pierre Hotel was filled with New York political, social and entertainment elite. Host, animal advocate and Grammy Award nominee, Moby, welcomed guests with a riveting speech.
The Make History Gala honored the Friends of Finn, the committee founded by Amanda Hearst that is made up of next generation New York leaders dedicated to stopping the inhumane treatment of dogs in puppy mills.

Puppy mills are mass-breeding facilities that house dogs in deplorable conditions. Amanda Hearst was joined by Friends of Finn members Tom Brodsky, Katy Brodsky, Georgina Bloomberg, Fabiola Beracasa, Annie Churchill Albert, Marcelo Gomes, Samantha Kleier Forbes, Michael Katz, Dylan Lauren, Sabrina Kleier Morgenstern, Kimberly Ovitz and Dalia Oberlander. Together, they make up the committee named after Amanda’s dog, Finn.
Amanda purchased Finn from a New York City pet store and was unaware that he was born at a puppy mill as he was presented as a “pup with papers.” To change the circumstances for dogs like Finn, the mother dog who gave birth to him, who may still be in a cage, and Amanda, the Friends of Finn have sold tables and raised gifts for an ongoing tri-state public education, awareness, and information program on why, how, and where to get dogs from reputable sources. |

| The gala also raised funds to support Missourians for the Protection of Dogs/YES! on Prop B, which is a campaign comprised of individuals and animal welfare organizations, including The HSUS, ASPCA®, Humane Society of Missouri, Best Friends Animal Society, and the Missouri Alliance for Humane Legislation. Proposition B, on Missouri’s statewide ballot for the November election, will stop puppy mill abuses by establishing common sense standards for the care of dogs in the nation’s largest puppy mill state. |
