This past Saturday night in Los Angeles was a culmination of a major expansion of the Los Angeles County Museum (known as LACMA) with the opening of the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion. It was a gala evening benefiting the museum, with “The Unmasking” theme. Christina Aguilera wowed the crowd of 1000 with a performance under the Venetian-themed marquee inspired by the Resnick’s art collection.
LACMA’s Board of Trustees Gala Host Committee included Shelli Azoff, David Bohnett, Eva Chow, David Geffen, Wendy Goldberg, Bobby Kotkc, Michael Milken, Jane Nathanson, Carole Bayer Sager, Terry Semel, and Florence Sloan. |

The evening began with cocktails in the Resnick Pavilion, designed by Renzo Piano, so named it been reported because of a $45 million gift of the Resnicks. Guests were treated to an exclusive preview marking the world premiere of three inaugural exhibitions. After the cocktails guests were escorted into the tent where they dined and were entertained by the Canadian Tenors, and Christina Aguilera who sang some of her classic hits such as “Beautiful,” “Fighter,” and her recent “You Lost Me” as well as a cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine.”
Immediately following the Gala’s close, glitter-covered guests made their way back to the Resnick Pavilion for the Ultimat Vodka and Moet & Chandon-sponsored Avant-Garde After-Party, where Hollywood hipsters and fashionistas Giovanni Ribisi, Katerina Graham, Gillian Zinser, Tracey Ross, Brad Goreski, Jenni Kayne, Kyle Richards and more had already kicked off the late-night festivities. The Chapin Sisters performed. |
