Last Wednesday noontime at the Magic Room of the LVMH Tower on East 57th Street, Christian de Portzamparc, the architect of the tower was guest of honor and speaker at The New York Landmarks Preservation benefit luncheon “Lunch at a Landmark.”
Mr. de Portzamparc’s subject was “The International City.” Paula Zahn was emcee and Mariana Kaufman was honorary chair. |

Last Tuesday evening at the Pierre, NYU Cancer Center Institute, an NCI-designated cancer center, raised nearly $1.4 million in unrestricted funds at its annual gala. They honored Silvia Formenti, MD, the Sandra and Edward H. Meyer Professor of Radiation Oncology and chair of Radiation Oncology at NYU Langone, for her extraordinary contributions to cancer research and care.
Each year the Cancer Institute Gala is held to celebrate the physicians, scientists, nurses and medical personnel at the cancer center for their longstanding excellence in education, research and patient care. Funds raised are used to support the Cancer Institute’s remarkable progress in the fight against cancer on all levels: patient care, research, education, and prevention.

On Wednesday, September 29th at 583 Park Avenue the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club held its 5th Annual Purses & Pursenalities Luncheon and a silent auction of designer handbags, to benefit the Club. Rosanna Scotto, co-anchor of Fox 5 Good Day New York, emceed the event. More than 260 attended.
They honored Barry Kieselstein-Cord, Kim Renk Dryer of Sequin and Douglas Hannant, who were recognized for their dedication and drive to become fashion industry greats.

| Last Thursday evening at the American Museum of Natural History, the Junior Council kicked off its 2010-2011 season with a private screening of Hubble and a cocktail reception. The IMAX film recounts the amazing journey of the most important scientific instrument since Galileo’s original telescope, immersing audiences in the great wonders and astounding beauty of our universe. Following the screening, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception and Zacapa-sponsored rum bar. |

| Last Tuesday night at the Museum of Arts and Design restaurant ROBERT, The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering hosted a cocktail party benefiting the 2010 Annual Appeal. This year the Society is highlighting “Targeting Melanoma.” Each year the Society raises between $700,000 and $1 million for a specific project at the Center by participating in the Annual Appeal letter-writing campaign. This night’s cocktail party kicked-off the initiative with a briefing from Dr. Allan C. Halpern, Chief MSKCC Dermatology Services. The Annual Appeal Chairman is Eleanora (Mrs. Michael) Kennedy. Vice-chairs are Mrs. Edmund Carpenter, Mrs. Richard Miller, Mrs. Paul Schorr IV and Mrs. Brian Snyder. |
