| The Gala will take place on November 16th and will honor Chef Ariane Daguin. This Gala comes in anticipation of the French Heritage Society's 30th Anniversary, which will inlcude a cutural trip through Gascony culminating in a spectacular Gala Dinner and Ball and fireworks finale at the Chateau de Fontainebleau. |

The Feminist Press at The City University of New York celebrated their 40th Annual Gala on Monday, October 18th, 2010 at The Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. The night had 390 guests and raised $300,000.
The night’s honorees included Filmmaker Mira Nair, Artist Sandra Levine, Attorney and Activist Rebecca Seawright and Scientist Nancy Wexler. Special guests included Uma Thurman, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and performance artist Karen Finley.
In addition, there was a special presentation honoring Forty Feminists under 40 including Tony nominated playwright Sarah Ruhl, Shira Koch Epstein, Executive Director of the New York Taxi Worker’s Alliance Bhairavi Desai and Christie’s Lydia Fenet.
The Gala benefits The Feminist Press at the City University of New York, the oldest continuing women’s publisher in the world. |

Last Wednesday noontime at the Waldorf=Astoria, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation held its Symposium and Annual Awards Luncheon where $33 million in grants were awarded to 172 deserving scientists from the very best medical research centers across the US, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Australia. More than 1000 guests attended and they helped raise nearly $2 million.
Since its inception in 1993, founded by Evelyn Lauder, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation has raised nearly $300 million to support the most advanced and promsing breast cancer research that will help lead to prevention and a cure in our lifetime. |

| The morning began with an enlightening Symposium discussing anti-hormone therapy and recent advances in this important avenue of breast cancer treatment that works by interfering with the dependence of many breast tumors on estrogen. The Jill Rose Award for outstanding research excellence honored Angela Hartley Brodie, PHD, of the University of Maryland, in recognition of her outstanding research accomplishments and the inaugural Sandra Taub Humanitarian Award was presented to Judy Craymer, producer of MAMMA MIA!, for her commitment to raising awareness of breast cancer around the globe and lifesaving funds for research. The Humanitarian Award was presented by actor Pierce Brosnan. |

DJ Donna D’Cruz kicked off the festivities, providing music for the cocktail reception; later, an exciting live auction brought bidders to their feet with such items as a private one-on-one with Jackson Browne and a custom handmade “Jackson Browne” Gibson Acoustic Guitar, Seduction of Spirit Six-Day Deepak Chopra Experience, a Rock ‘n Roll Winter Weekend with Kate Pierson of the B52s, a collaborative portrait with celebrated fashion photographer Bruce Weber and Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band-Signed Gibson Les Paul 1958 Jr. and Tickets to the 2011 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Awards. |

| After receiving the evening’s Humanitarian Award, Jackson Browne joined Nile Rodgers and Steven Van Zandt on stage, performing a selection of fan-favorites, including “Running on Empty” and “Somebody’s Baby,” which brought guests to their feet. Afterwards, Nile Rodgers and CHIC took over, performing such iconic tunes as “Le Freak,” “Good Times” and “I’m Coming Out” before the honorees, Foundation team and guests took the stage together to close the evening with a show-stopping rendition of “We Are Family.” |
