Last Thursday night Juan Diego Florez, the world’s greatest bel canto tenor performing today, played the lead in Rossini’s “Le Comte Ory” at the Metropolitan Opera. This was the Met's debut of the opera which premiered in Paris two centuries ago.
The evening was a black tie gala, and underwritten by Yves Saint Laurent, and raised more than $1 million. |
