Spring Galas galore

Minutes before dinner on the promenade of the David H. Koch Theater for the New York City Ballet's annual Spring Gala.
Last Wednesday night, the New York City Ballet held its annual Spring Gala at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center featuring the world premiere of a new production of Brecht/Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins, choreographed by Lynne Taylor-Corbett and starring Broadway legend Patti LuPone in her NYCB debut. The Gala was a star-studded affair out to celebrate LuPone, Taylor-Corbett and the exciting new production.

Décor for the event was provided by Dejuan Stroud, with catering by Glorious Food and music by DJ Stan Cortois. With over 800 guests in attendance the event was successful in raising over $2 million for the Company.

Inspired by The Seven Deadly Sins, designers Betsey Johnson and Erin Fetherston created pieces exclusively for the Gala and had their looks modeled by a muse of the designer’s choice.

Last Monday night in New York (as reported here on NYSD), the Lighthouse International held its kick-off dinner benefit for The Hottest Sale In Town, “POSH at the Plaza.” The sale ran from last Thursday through yesterday, and there were bargains galore. A friend of mine, for example, bought a designer black velvet dinner jacket for seventy-five bucks.

The POSH dinner brought out the fashion crowd and a lot of the social crowd. They honored Linda Fargo, Kim Baker Campbell (who was one of the founders of the original POSH fund-raising sale when it was out in Locust Valley), and Amy Fine Collins, who is fashion personified in New York today. It was a fun crowd, in a good mood and they raised a lot of money for Lighthouse International which does fantastic work for those (many) of us who are vision impaired.

Guests munched on individual lobster martinis and smore's lollipops accompanied by mini milk shots.

The authors grew up on Hollywood, at the center of it all: Dennis Hopper’s daughter, and daughter of film and television producer Leonard Goldberg, respectively. Their first novel, Celebutantes, was a New York Times bestseller and garnered praise from People, Entertainment Weekly, The Los Angeles Times, Star, Michael Kors, Tom Ford, Jackie Collins and more.
