Four celebrated interior designers participated in this year’s Landscape Pleasures: Inside/Outside, the Parrish Art Museum’s annual two-day horticulture event and fund-raiser Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12. The program kicked off with a Saturday morning symposium, featuring talks by Mario Buatta, Alexa Hampton, Charlotte Moss, and William Sofield. On Sunday, four of the most spectacular gardens in the area, all owned by interior designers, were opened to participants for self-guided tours. Designers whose gardens were featured: Steven Gambrel (Sag Harbor), John Barman and Kelly Graham (Sagaponack), William Sofield and Dennis Anderson (Southampton), and Tony Ingrao and Randy Kemper (East Hampton). Co-Chairs for this year’s event were Lillian Cohen, Perry Guillot, and Marty McLanahan.

Former New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean, Time to Know Founder Shmuel Meitar, and Catapult Learning President and CEO Stuart Udell were the guests of honor at the 2011 “I Have A Dream” Foundation Spring Gala, which took place on June 14th at 583 Park Avenue. This very special occasion also marked the 30th Anniversary of the “I Have a Dream” Foundation founded by Eugene M. Lang.

Gov. Kean was the recipient of the Eugene M. Lang Lifetime Achievement Award, introduced by former United States Senator Bob Kerrey, President Emeritus, The New School. Mr. Meitar was the recipient of the Innovator’s Award, introduced by Marc Sternberg, Deputy Chancellor of Portfolio Planning, New York City Department of Education. Mr. Udell was the recipient of the Education Warrior’s Award, introduced by Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, New Jersey Lieutenant Governor & Secretary of State.

Upon graduation, each ‘Dreamer’ receives guaranteed tuition assistance for higher education. Today, more than 3,000 Dreamers are working their way to college in 17 states, Washington, D.C., and New Zealand, following the 11,000 alumni who came before them. In many sites, Dreamers are graduating from high school at twice or even triple the rate of their peers. Many Dreamers will be the first in their families to earn a college degree.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s 2011 New York Tribute Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental honored Elizabeth and Oliver Stanton for their support of the Museum for more than a decade, including serving as lead sponsors of the Museum’s Voices on Antisemitism podcast series. Hannah Rosenthal, the U.S. State Department’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism was the keynote speaker. NBC News correspondent Peter Alexander was the event moderator.

“The Museum seeks not only to educate people, especially youth, about the past, but to inspire them to prevent such events from reoccurring,” says Museum Chairman Tom A. Bernstein. “Crucial to this effort are programs like Voices on Antisemitism which invites a range of individuals to reflect on the dangers of hate today. The Stantons’ exceptional generosity has enabled us to reach students, educators, and many others nationwide.”
