 A busy week ahead

| Monday, October 24, 2011. Fair weather weekend with cool autumn air turning chill at night. The weatherman has been off with his projections of very cold weather but Saturday I brought in most of plants from the terrace (except for the impatiens which don’t make it through the winter in an apartment with not a lot of light). It’s a bit obsessive but I’m one of those people who wants to save all living things, if possible. I know I know. It comes from my California days when everything grew year round and you could practically root a broomstick by putting it into the ground. |

The social/gala season was really pumped up last week with more parties than we could cover in a day or even a week. So today we’re making up for lost time because we’ve got a very busy week ahead of us.
Last Thursday night the The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) hosted the 23rd Annual Preview Party for The International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show at the Park Avenue Armory. The show features many of the world’s most influential art and antique dealers from the United States and Europe.
This is the 23rd year that the Society has had the good fortune to be the beneficiary of the Preview Party, which was launched in 1989. The party itself has become one of New York’s important fall events. It’s also a bit like a homecoming where so many friends and neighbors and supporters gather. And, it attracts more than a thousand high profile guests from the worlds of fashion, art, philanthropy, and interior design. A real New York night. |

100% of the proceeds from the event benefit The Society’s patient care, research and education programs at MSKCC, thanks to their generous sponsors, Paola Quadretti, One Kings Lane and St. John.
This year’s co-chairs who are always crucial to the Preview Night’s success were: Noreen Buckfire, Elizabeth Miller, Daisy Soros, and Michel Cox Witmer. It’s a great evening; great people watching, exceptional art and antiques to peruse (and buy), wonder stalls in the aisles for excepting gnoshing, full bars, champagne flowing, meeting up with friends. And the show goes on through this coming Thursday, open from 11 to 7, so don’t miss. |
