| Last Wednesday night, God’s Love We Deliver celebrated its 25th anniversary at its annual Golden Heart Awards dinner. Celebrities, business leaders, philanthropists, and more than 470 friends of God's Love saluted the extraordinary and exemplary philanthropic and civic efforts of Carolina Herrera and “25 Years of Volunteers.” Food Network’s Sandra Lee kicked off the evening by sharing a heart-felt letter from a volunteer about his experience as a van assistant delivering to a client. Ms. Lee was then joined on the stage by the volunteer, who thanked God’s Love for always being there for those in need.
Mrs. Herrera thanked God’s Love for the award and honored the night’s other nominees, stating her admiration for and congratulations to the organization’s volunteers who help God’s Love succeed in its mission day in and day out. The Chairman of the Board of God’s Love, Michael Sennott, then took the stage to honor several of the historic leaders of God’s Love We Deliver. Mr. Sennott introduced founder, Ganga Stone, and former Executive Director, Nancy Mahon, who led the expansion of our mission. He then presented a beautiful film honoring “25 Years of Volunteers” which ended by a rousing round of applause from all in attendance. Jamie Niven of Sotheby’s was brilliant in leading a rousing live auction raising critical funds for the continued success of our programs. New York City Speaker, Christine Quinn introduced Uma Thurman, a God’s Love volunteer, to the stage. Thurman accepted the award on behalf of “25 years of Volunteers” with a moving description of her own volunteer experiences and what God’s Love means to her and to the community. The guests dined on delicious food from Canard, Inc. and cocktails donated by Pernod Ricard, while they enjoyed the evening’s program. The spectacular event was made possible through the hard work and efforts of many individuals, including co-chairs Blaine Trump, Diana Taylor, Michael Sennott and John Demsey. |

| The mission of the Mailman School is to tackle the most important health problems of the 21st century, and its faculty is on the frontlines of cutting-edge research. Dr. Ian Lipkin, one of the world’s foremost virus hunters, was technical advisor to the filmmakers of the current box-office hit Contagion about global pandemic. Dr. Lipkin was written into the movie plot as the scientist who makes the breakthrough discovery. He was at the gala along with other faculty luminaries including Drs. Irwin Redlener (of Paul Simon’s Children's Health Fund) and Dr. Wafaa El-Sadr, a MacArthur “genius” Award winner whose leadership of ICAP has helped to bring treatment to over 1 million people suffering from HIV/AIDS in Africa. Gala Committee members include Charles M. Diker, Susan E. Patricof, John W. Rowe, Diana L. Taylor, Jane Rosenthal, Mary Lake Polan, Elizabeth Williams, Phyllis Mailman and Jody Wolfe. New York City Health Commissioner Thomas Farley was the Honorary Chairman. They honored Dr. Harvey V. Fineberg, President of the Institute of Medicine, with the Frank A. Calderone Prize in Public Health. More than 300 guests attended and they raised more than $930,000 before the event began. |

| The most successful bird artist of all time was John James Audubon. He lent his name to the National Audubon Society, which for more than a century has built a legacy of successful conservation by utilizing the strength of its network of members. The Carlisle Collection under its founder, chairman and CEO William Rondina creates elegant clothing, classic clothes with a contemporary twist. The fashion house has created a program of giving back to the community, the “Carlisle Give Back Program.” |
|
| The two forces met recently in the Carlisle/Per Se’s Penthouse showroom (16 East 52nd Street) for an evening of fun, fashion and philanthropy. While Luann Sampson, Director of Merchandising, highlighted the fashion house’s must-have looks for the season, Society members and their guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. From September 20th through October 31, 20 percent of all showroom purchases in New York and Connecticut by Audubon members and their guests will be donated directly to support the Society’s Long Island Sound efforts. |
|
| Between the smart fashions and the support of the Audubon members and guests, the dressing rooms were filled with women trying on clothes aided by Carlisle personal stylists. Members and their guests included Missy and Carlos Falchi, Andy and Elena Ginsberg, Chloe Weisberg, Marlan Howley, Fern Thomas, Mickey Ateyah, Kelly Hoey, Gideon Hayes, Karen Klopp, Adiar Keating Weiss, Anne Akers, Elissa Kramer, Michael Kaufman, Fran Weissler, Angie Miller, Jessica Brugdon, Katy Lyons, Mark Gilbertson, Nora Lawlor, John Hannan and Anna Duffy as well as William Rondina, Eileen Balaban, and Caroline Bowen. Carlisle's NYC Showroom Director Leena Gurevich and Carlisle's Greenwich Showroom Director Lisa Fleming were joined by their top stylists, who worked with clients during the evening. |
