The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's Associates Committee and Gem Palace annual Fall Party at the Four Seasons Restaurant.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2011, The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's (MSKCC) Associates Committee and Gem Palace hosted the annual Fall Party at the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York. The glamorous evening was co-chaired by Allison Aston, Cynthia Smith, Ferebee Taube, and Eleanor Ylvisaker.

The evening included cocktails, dinner, and dancing for a high-profile crowd from the worlds of fashion, music, arts, philanthropy, and New York society. Over 350 guests were welcomed in the poolroom by Associates Chairman Lisa Errico. During dinner Dr. Richard J. O'Reilly, Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and Director of the Bone Marrow Transplantation Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center spoke to the importance of the Pediatric Family Housing Endowment's work for children cancer patients and their families. Dr. O'Reilly's speech was followed by Sotheby's auctioneer Jamie Niven leading a live pledge ask, which broke the record for an amount raised at the Associates Committee Fall Party.

At the end of the evening the event raised over $490,000 for The Society's Pediatric Family Housing Endowment, which pays for overnight stays when children and their families come from out of town for treatment at MKSCC's renowned Department of Pediatrics and are unable to afford this expense themselves.

Late last month, Anna and Brian Haughton, founders of the International Fine Art & Antique Dealers Show, hosted a cocktail reception at the Park Avenue Armory for supporters of the annual Park Avenue Tree Lighting.

For 23 years, the prestigious "International Show" has been one of the most glamorous showcases for top dealers from Europe and the USA. "We are delighted to again be hosting The Fund for Park Avenue event at the International Fine Art & Antique Dealers Show," said Anna Haughton. "The beautiful malls on Park Avenue enhance the quality of life for millions of New Yorkers and visitors every year. The tree lights are especially magical at Christmas time and represent such an important tradition in New York."

Fund for Park Avenue President, Barbara McLaughlin said, "Each year the community comes together to ensure that this tradition continues." She emphasized that the Tree Lighting has always been privately funded and that the annual contributions The Fund receives are what allows the tradition to continue.

Trees were first lit on Park Avenue in 1945 by a small group of Park Avenue families, led by Mrs. Stephen C. Clark. They wanted to honor the men and women who had died in WWII. Today, the illuminated trees are a memorial to all who have lost their lives defending our country. Mrs. McLaughlin encouraged the guests to explore the show and also to sample the wine generously donated by Clos du Bois and the sweets provided by Magnolia Bakery.

The process of installing and lighting the trees on the Avenue begins around Veteran's Day each year and finishes just in time for the Tree Lighting Ceremony (which is always the first Sunday evening in December), outside of the Brick Church (Park Avenue and 91st Street).

Fund for Park Avenue Board members included: Derek Limbocker, Mary Davidson, Ron Spencer, Helena Martinez and Judith Steckler.
