The Animal Medical Center (AMC) hosted its Fourth Annual Living Legends Luncheon at The Harmonie Club in NYC on Wednesday, May 9 to celebrate the amazing stories of two companion animals – Blueberry the Chihuahua and Ruby the Cat – who received life-saving treatment from The AMC's Neurology Service. Barbara Hoffman, Kane Nussbaum, Marilyn Sorensen, Helene Stein and Eva Usdan were Co-Chairs of the event.

Nearly 175 guests were in attendance. Some notables included Nancy Kissinger, Elaine Langone, Robert Liberman, Katharine and William Rayner, Ellen Marcus and Emilia Krimendahl.

Funds raised from the Living Legends Luncheon will continue to support The AMC, a non-profit teaching institution, which is universally recognized as one of the world's most comprehensive hospitals for companion animals. With a distinguished 102-year legacy, The AMC sets the standard for quality medical care, research breakthroughs and education.

The 11th Annual Women Who Care Luncheon benefitting United Cerebral Palsy of New York City was held Thursday, May 3rd at Cipriani 42nd Street. The sold-out event celebrated the accomplishments of extraordinary women as caregivers, volunteers, and professionals.

Loreen Arbus, Disability Rights Activist/Philanthropist/Producer, is Founder & Chair of Women Who Care. Ellen Levine, Editorial Director, Hearst Magazines is Honorary Chair. Donna Hanover served as Host for the event for the 11th consecutive year. Robin Givens & Paula Zahn are the Co-Chairs of Women Who Care.

MARGARET PUDDINGTON, Founder of the Coalition of Families for Direct Support Staff in Services for People with Developmental Disabilities, was presented with the Karen Hansen Caregiver Award by SUSAN LUCCI, Emmy® winner, New York Times Best Selling Author & former Women Who Care AwardHonoree.

The Children's Storefront, a non-profit tuition-free school in Harlem, hosted its 8th Annual Harlem Luncheon at the National Black Theater in Harlem. This year's keynote speaker was New York Times Op-Ed Columnist Gail Collins. The chairperson for the event was Storefront Trustee, Holly Peterson.

Last Monday night, May 14th, Lapham’s Quarterly hosted its first annual gala, the DECADES BALL: The 1920s, at 583 Park Avenue.

Leonard Riggio, Chairman of Barnes & Noble, Inc. was Benefit Chair and Oskar Eustis hosted the evening. The star-studded program included Anne Hathaway reading Dorothy Parker, Sam Waterston reading Don Marquis, Benjamin Walker reading Ernest Hemingway, Colin Donnell singing Cole Porter and Maude Maggart singing Noël Coward. Lin-Manuel Miranda will present the Janus Prize to Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Ron Chernow.

The Thirteenth Annual Spring Luncheon, presented by the Food Allergy Initiative, took place on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Cipriani 42nd Street. Some 550 supporters attended the event, which has raised more than $784,000 to date. Proceeds will benefit the Food Allergy Initiative’s research, education, and advocacy programs aimed at finding a cure and raising awareness of life-threatening food allergies.

This year’s guest speaker was Dr. Hugh Sampson, an internationally known researcher and Director of the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Julie Menin, Chairperson, Manhattan Community Board 1, updated the audience on FAI’s public policy achievements. Lori Stokes, Anchor, WABC-TV, was the Mistress of Ceremonies.

The Food Allergy Initiative (FAI) is a national, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to finding a cure for food allergies, which affect up to 15 million Americans, including 1 in 13 children—two in every classroom. Founded in 1998, FAI is the world’s largest private source of funding for food allergy research. Since its inception, the organization has committed nearly $77 million toward research, clinical activities to improve diagnosis and treatment, public policy initiatives to increase federal funding for research and create safer environments, and educational programs to heighten understanding and raise awareness.
