The Jay Heritage Center's (JHC) ever popular Spring Luncheon & Fashion Presentation by Neiman Marcus Westchester drew over 150 guests to American Yacht Club in Rye, NY on May 17th. Guests first enjoyed mimosas in picture perfect weather overlooking a harbor full of sailboats on Long Island Sound. A high energy runway show of summer wardrobe must-haves followed.
This year's event marked the 20th anniversary of the rescue of John Jay's boyhood home from demolition. Thanks to preservationists, today the site is a National Historic Landmark and member of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area along with other Westchester jewels like Caramoor and Kykuit. Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit JHC's indoor and outdoor educational programs in American History, Architecture, Social Justice and Environmental Stewardship.

Wednesday evening, May 23rd, titans of the leveraged finance industry turned out to support Leveraged Finance Fights Melanoma at Bryant Park Café. The event raised over $750,000 for the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA), founded in 2007 by Debra and Leon Black after Debra was diagnosed with the disease. MRA is under the auspices of the Milken Institute and is the largest private funder of melanoma research.
In addition to Debra and Leon Black and co-hosts Jeff Rowbottom of KKR and Brendan Dillon of UBS, attendees included host committee members from the most important financial and legal companies working in the sector. Jim Casey (JP Morgan), Tim Collins (GoldenTree), Brendan Connolly (UBS), James Cross (Simpson Thacher), Michael Damasso (Guggenheim Partners), Eric Falk (KKR Asset Management), Richard Farley (Paul Hastings), Scot French (Highbridge), Bill Hartnett (Cahill Gordon), Matt Janchar (Berkshire Partners), Jason Kanner (Kirkland & Ellis), Jim Keenan (Blackrock), Mike Lazar (Blackrock Kelso), Greg Margolies (Ares), Joe McGrath (Barclays Capital), David Miller (Credit Suisse), Russ Morrison (Babson Capital), George Mueller (KKR), AJ Murphy (Bank of America Merrill Lynch), Craig Packer (Goldman Sachs), Louis Salvatore (GSO Capital), Vik Sawhney (Blackstone), Alan Schrager (Oak Hill Advisors), Chris Solomon (Welsh Carson), Cade Thompson (KKR), Chris Turner (Warburg Pincus), Trevor Watt (Hellman & Friedman), and Jim Zelter (Apollo) were in attendance. |

| Jeff Rowbottom, Jedd Wolchok, Debra Black, Leon Black, and Brendan Dillon |
The event also honored Dr. Jedd D. Wolchok of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, for his work in melanoma research. A three minute clip from a film about melanoma highlighted the importance of checking one’s skin and visiting the dermatologist regularly.
100% of the evening proceeds went to MRA. MRA has to date awarded more than $38 million to 97 research programs to make transforming advances in the prevention, diagnosis, staging, and treatment of melanoma, including $3 million to fund a “Melanoma Dream Team” with Stand Up to Cancer. MRA directs 100% of all public donations it receives to research.
