Awesome Autumn dinners

Honoree Henry Arnhold speaks in the long West Gallery at the Frick Collection's Autumn Dinner.
This past Monday night, the Frick Collection held its always much-anticipated Autumn Dinner. Over the years, the event has attracted those who appreciate the significance of the Frick's contribution to the life of the city and the greater international cultural community. The Autumn Dinner features the only sit-down dinner held in the Frick's remarkable picture galleries, in the midst of masterpieces from the Renaissance though the nineteenth century.

This year's black-tie dinner honored Henry Arnhold, Chairman of Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Holdings, Inc. He is also President of the Arnhold and Mulago foundations, which have made a substantial and lasting impact through their generous support of the arts, environmental causes, and various social programs.

The evening began with an after-hours cocktail reception in the neo-classical Garden Court at the heart of this cultural landmark. A special feature included access to the Portico Gallery, inaugurated last winter and built with the generous support of the evening's honorée, Henry Arnhold. There guests saw a selection of 65 works from his promised gift to the Collection, as presented in the exhibition White Gold: Highlights from the Arnhold Collection of Meissen Porcelain. A formal sit-down dinner followed in a series dramatically lit contiguous galleries with wine donated by The Four Graces: Willamette Valley Pinot Gris 2011 & Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc 2011.

Proceeds from this event help to support the full range of programs of The Frick Collection, including educational and curatorial initiatives and the Frick Art Reference Library. This year's benefit raised more than $1,050,000 with approximately 240 attending.
