| The Boys' Club of New York is the nation's oldest boys club, founded in 1876. Through its clubhouses and summer camp, BCNY offers programs that help boys and young men stay in school and go on to college, discover their individual musical and artistic talents, develop healthy bodies, and just have fun. BCNY helps build boys into men of character with strong values, discipline, and a positive perspective that counters the negative forces found in today's world. |

| NYU Cancer Institute at NYU Langone Medical Center, an NCI-designated cancer center, raised $1.5 million at its annual gala held on October 17th at the Plaza Hotel and honored James L. Speyer, MD, professor of medicine, medical director of the Clinical Cancer Center, and associate director of Clinical Hospital Operations at NYU Cancer Institute. Each year, the NYU Cancer Institute Gala is held to celebrate the dedication of its physicians, scientists, nurses and other medical staff. Funds raised support the Cancer Institute’s remarkable progress through excellence in patient care, research, education, and prevention, under the leadership of its director William Carroll, MD, the Julie and Edward J. Minskoff Professor of Pediatrics. |
| After welcoming and expressing his gratitude to the gala’s more than 400 guests, Robert I. Grossman, MD, the Saul J. Farber Dean and CEO of NYU Langone Medical Center, acknowledged this year’s honoree, Dr. Speyer, by saying, “Under Jim’s direction, the Clinical Cancer Center has continually raised the bar in outpatient oncology services since its opening in 2004. Jim is a model clinician and a consummate leader, someone who epitomizes our goal of providing compassionate care designed for the individual patient.” Those in attendance included: Saba Bologna and Dr. William Carroll, Elisabeth Cohen, MD, Lori and Larry Fink, Trudy and Robert Gottesman, Sylvia Hassenfeld, Elaine and Ken Langone, Maya and Ed Manley, Laura and Isaac Perlmutter, Tracy and Stanley Shopkorn, Norma and Gordon Smith, Robin Smith, MD, PhD, Debora and Jes Staley, Alice and Tom Tisch, Billie Tisch, Cynthia and Jan van Eck, and Marica Vilcek and Jan Vilcek, MD, PhD. |
| NYU Langone is undergoing the largest transformation in its history, adding some 2.1 million square feet to its footprint—currently the second largest redevelopment project in New York City, following the World Trade Center. Expansion is a necessary step for the Clinical Cancer Center, where they serve an increasing number of patients each year. This December, NYU Langone’s new Ambulatory Care Center will dedicate two floors to oncology, increasing its space for clinical visits and exams and adding 26 new infusion chairs for a wide array of outpatient cancer services. These services will supplement the existing outpatient services available at the Clinical Cancer Center, the clinical arm of the Cancer Institute. |
