|
47 women of distinction from the United States and abroad made their bows to over 700 guests at the 58th Anniversary of the International Debutante Ball at the Waldorf Astoria. The debutantes represented China, England, France, The Netherlands, Scotland and fifteen American states. Each debutante was accompanied by her own escort in white tie and tails, and a military cadet in dress uniform who carried the flag of the country or state which she represents.
The ball was founded in 1954 by Beatrice Dinsmore Joyce as a charity and the tradition continues today directed by her niece, Mrs. Gregory Scott Hedberg. This year the Honorary Chairmen were Mrs. David Hamilton and Mrs. Julia I. Kauffman and Chairmen included Anne Eisenhower, Susan Eisenhower, Mrs. D. David Eisenhower, and Princess Chantal of France. |

The David Lynch Foundation is a nonprofit organization which partners with schools, military bases, hospitals, prisons, battered women’s and homeless shelters to teach non-religious Transcendental Meditation (TM) techniques to help adults and children overcome post-traumatic stress (PTS), enhance performance and learning ability and promote general well-being.
The stress-reducing benefits of TM have been well-documented in numerous studies published in scientific journals such as the American Medical Association’s Archives of Internal Medicine and the American Heart Association’s Stroke and Hypertension.
Devotees of Transcendental Meditation include Ellen DeGeneres, Martin Scorsese, and Candy Crowley. Proceeds from the benefit will provide TM programs for at-risk youth in underserved schools, veterans with PTS and their families and women and girls who are victims of violence, abuse and rape. |
