Miramax and Piaget hosted a premiere screening this past Tuesday night at the Landmark Sunshine Theatre on East Houston Street of “Becoming Jane” starring Anne Hathaway, the girl who had to deal with the devil wearing Prada.

 |
Anne Hathaway |
Ms. Hathaway moves back a few centuries in this role, playing the Hollywood-ized version of Jane Austen, the woman who wrote film-friendly stories a few centuries before there was such a thing. In fact the film is a bit of a fictional device dreamed up by somebody in the film business in that it’s a speculative version of what Miss Austen’s romantic life was/might have been like, assuming she had one. Although, the story was said to have been inspired by real events.
Ms. Hathaway was present for the evening, all glittering in Piaget’s light and airy “Honey-inspired” yellow gold and diamond drop earrings, a brilliant white gold and diamond Magic Reflections topiary motif cocktail ring gracing the middle finger of her right hand. On her wrist, Piaget’s pink gold Miss Protocole watch with diamond accents, in case you’re wonder why Piaget hosted this event.
The movie premiered to an audience of fashionistas, entertainment influencers, socialites and others of that ilk and stripe. In the crowd: Damon Dash and Rachel Roy, Raffaello Follieri, Heather Matarazzo, Robert Funaro; the film’s producer Graham Broadbent, Anna Chlumsky, Bettina Zilkha, Michael Gelman, Sylvia Miles, Celia Weston, Daniel Battsek, Larry Boland (president of Piaget). Afterwards, there was a champagne reception and private dinner on the terrace of the Bowery Hotel. |
