With more than 275 people attending, the Service Club of Chicago’s “Day on the Terrace” at the Peninsula Hotel was a record-breaker. Hazel Barr, the event creator and coordinator, welcomed celebrity models such as Suzanne LeMignot from CBS 2, Kathy Brock from WLS-TV 7, Bill Zwecker from the Chicago Sun-Times, Amy Sterling (Mrs. America 2007) and members of the Service Club.
Models hit the runway with fashions from Burberry, Escada, Macy’s 28 Shop, Neiman Marcus, St. John, Ultimo, Hana K, Starr Couture, Eileen Fisher, Maria Pinto, YSL, Le Copaine and TK Men.
In a special segment that brought the crowd to their feet, models wore evening gowns and were escorted down the runway by soldiers from the U.S. Army wearing their dress blues.
After the show, guests dined on Yellow Watermelon Gazpacho, Crab Salad and Brioche Crusted Salmon with Heirloom Tomatoes. Dessert was Summer Freddo (a specially prepared dessert with peaches), Blueberry Salad and Almond streusel. Many of the soldiers from the show also stayed for lunch. The show was a roaring success, raising $50,000 for the Service Club.
The Service Club’s big event will be on November 2nd at the Four Seasons. Event co-chairs Peggy Martay and Dr. Stacie McClane have named the event “007: An Evening of Espionage and Intrigue.” Michael Lerich’s orchestra will play. Tickets will be $375. For more information call 847-441-6362. |
