Strides for Life

Team Hedi spearheaded by Kimberly Kravis Schulhof, LCRF Vice President and Strides for Life Co-Chair.
The Lung Cancer Research Foundation hosted the 3rd Annual Strides for Life 3-mile fun run/walk around Lake Agawam in Southampton. A record 800 people turned out to enjoy the early morning sunshine and raise funds for critical lung cancer research. Three-time lung cancer survivor Lorette Pucylowski cut the ribbon to start the race alongside the event’s Honorary Chair and Co-Anchor of FOX 5 News Rosanna Scotto who was busy cheering on the crowd.

Other teams participating included “Team Hedi,” spearheaded by LCRF Vice President Kimberly Kravis Schulhof in memory of her mother, Hedi; the “Super (Duper) Striders” and last year’s defending champions “Pop’s Pals.”

At the finish line, the runners were rewarded with a fabulous Tory Burch goodie bag! The event raised over $425,000 for The Lung Cancer Research Foundation. The race’s Co-Chairmen were LCRF Founder and President Laurie Carson, Kimberly Kravis Schulhof, and Lynne Tarnopol. The Teen Chair was Carolina Cordon- Bouzan.

Two Saturdays ago at the Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) held their first annual Claws for Paws benefit. An informal clambake organized by a small group of people in their 20s, the event started out a few years ago as a get-together with picnic blankets and music from a truck on the beach with an after party at Dune in Southampton.

Meg Dimeling, a member of the original group and co-chair of this event said that as more and more people started attending, “we thought we could make it bigger and better and also do it for a worth cause."

Two weeks ago at the Carltun in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York, the UJA-Federation of New York’s Leadership Campaign held its 18th Annual Summer Fest honoring Linda Nudelman of Woodbury, Long Island with the Robert S. Boas Award. The event attracted more than 200 young Jewish philanthropists and entrepreneurs who showed their support for UJA-Federation and its beneficial agencies. The event represents almost $1 million in philanthropic gifts to UJA-Federation.

Ms. Nudelman was presented her award in recognition of her extraordinary leadership and commitment to the Jewish community and the mission of the UJA-Federation. Those attending brought toys and arts-and-crafts items which are earmarked for donation to two programs sponsored by the UJA-Federation, Schneider Children’s Hospital at North Shore and Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel.
