Waiting for reality; rushing to completion

The match between Evian Blue and Evian Pink at “A Taste of Polo.”

Last Sunday afternoon in the Hamptons, there was a final polo event held on the property of poloist Michael Borrico called “A Taste of Polo” which included tastings for the famished of various high-end restaurants such as Mr. Chow’s, the Four Seasons, Bagatelle and Surf Lodge.

There was the polo match between Evian Blue and Evian Pink, which was followed by an Argentine barbecue surrounded by a few polo-playing Argentines who may be hot, but not for roasting. Actor Hugh Grant was there, as was restaurateur Michael Chow, and Katie Lee Joel who was busy signing her cookbook (for all those would-be chefs) while the match was going on. Beth Ostrosky was there and so was Annabel Vartanian.

So was Krisitan Laliberte and his creative sidekick Devorah Rose who were shooting footage for their new reality TV show which they’re gonna call “Social Heights” (or was it “Social High”?). The weather was glorious.

Miss Vartanian’s all white outfit was “see-through” although that’s old hat compared to her predecessors Paris and Britney et al. Maybe Laliberte and La Rose can help. And there were dogs and kids and everybody was glad to be there for this end of summer romp with chukkers (anything beats the ride back to Manhattan on the L.I.E.)

The Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) hosted re:FORM, an art auction and cocktail party benefit at Cheim & Read gallery this past Wednesday. The evenign benefited DPA, the nation's leading organization promoting alternatives to the drug war that are grounded in science, compassion, health and human rights.

DPA honored three dear friends of the organization: Donald Baechler, Dr. Mathilde Krim and Fred Tomaselli. The event co-chairs are John Cheim, James Cohan, Jason Flom, Howard Read and George Soros. Honorary co-chairs are Darren Aronofsky, Alba Clemente, Walter Cronkite, Peter Lewis and Russell Simmons. Following the re:FORM art auction, they held an after party at Home in Chelsea.
