I'll take Manhattan

Aaron Jay Kernis on hand to join in the applause for Thomas Kraines, Jesse Mills, and Michael Boriskin as Copland House celebrated the Italian Futurists.
Copland House, a unique creative center for American music based at Aaron Copland’s restored, long time home in Cordlandt Manor, celebrated the Italian Futurists with chefs Lidia Bastianich and Mark Ladner bringing optimism to the table.

As gala guests entered through the tall doors to the palatial entrance of Del Posto they were led down the candle lit elegant marble steps for cocktails and hors d‘oeuvres and a silent auction with wide-ranging items, including a tri-colored gold diamond pendant, a ride with a race-car driver at Lime Rock, a cruise down the Hudson River on a private yacht, a weekend in Chelsea, a private concert by the acclaimed Music from Copland House ensemble, a couple of golf outings and much more.

Lidia Bastianich and her Executive Chef Mark Ladner devised the inspired menu, which worked hand-in-hand with "The Four Seasons of Futurist Cuisine" by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Aaron Jay Kernis who used recipes from the Futurist movement founder Filippo Tomasso Marinetti's The Futurist Cookbook as text for his trio for violin, cello, piano, and narrator (Fred Child, NPR‘s Performance Today host), which was performed by the acclaimed Music from Copland House ensemble.

Guests included Deputy County Executive Susan Tolchin and her husband Lawrence; Westchester Arts Council Executive Director Janet Langsam; Copland biographer and leading American music scholar Vivian Perlis, gala underwriters Carol and Robert Morris, Teri and Jim Babcock, John and Carol Loomis, Rosamond Bernier and John Russell, Roland Reisley, Dara Meyers-Kingsleym, Keith Safianm, Emily Kaiser, and Clover Lalezar of NY1.

Composer Aaron Jay Kernis was on hand to join in the applause for cellist Thomas Kraines, award-winning violinist Jesse Mills, and pianist and Copland House Artistic and Executive Director Michael Boriskin who performed the four movements of Kernis’ music interspersed among the menu’s five courses.

The Museum at Eldridge Street hosted a Grand Re-dedication and Landmark Distinction Awards Dinner to celebrate the re-opening of the National Historic Landmark 1887 Eldridge Street Synagogue (the culmination of a 20-year, $20 million restoration effort) and to honor Lorinda Ash Ezersky, Jeffrey Gural and Michael Weinstein for their leadership in the restoration effort and in the creation of the new Museum at Eldridge Street (formerly known as the Eldridge Street Project). The new Museum is a vital cultural and educational center celebrating more than a century of Jewish life in America.

The event raised $1 million for the Museum with 500 guests in attendance for cocktails at the synagogue followed by dinner at Capitale.

More than a thousand guests gathered in black tie at the 5th annual Young Leadership Gala of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (“FIDF”) to celebrate and support an evening that has been dubbed by the New York Observer as “The Jewish Oscars”.

Close to $600,000 was raised from the Gala, held this year at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City, as guests were treated to an unforgettable performance by reggae artist Matisyahu, followed by a casino-themed evening. This event has become a global sensation as participants this year traveled from Israel, London, Milan, Munich as well as from across the United States in order to attend. Among the evening’s guests were Israel’s Consul Mr. Assaf Shariv, and many others from Manhattan’s social and professional elite.

In celebration of the introduction of Dellis Cay, a private sand resort, Dr. Cem Kinay, Chairman and CEO of the O Property Collection, hosted a launch party/reception at New York’s Mandarin Oriental on November 29. The hotel's ballroom was transformed into a white oasis for the occasion.

Dellis Cay is located in the Turks and Caicos Islands British West Indies. The exclusive resort will feature the modern design mastery of internationally-renowned architects including Pritzker Award-winner Zaha Hadid and Piero Lissoni.

This elegant destination will consist of island residences, over-water villas, a Mandarin Oriental hotel, marina, spa and nature conservatory, among other amenities. Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones have already purchased a home in the development.

To excite the well-heeled crowd, which included Mandarin CEO Edouard Ehedgui, Dr. Kinay said that he'd give a Ferrari 430 to anybody at the party who bought a villa before the end of the year. He also said he'd give two designer golf carts to anybody there who bought one of the smaller residences which should come in hand since those vehicles will be the only way to get around the auto-free private island.
