| Swing was in the air a couple of weeks ago as the fall social season began as Jazz at Lincoln Center Board member Jack Rudin and his wife Susan hosted a festive party for friend and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Wynton Marsalis’s new book at the Four Seasons Grill Room in midtown Manhattan. The book, written with historian Geoffrey C. Ward is called, “Moving to Higher Ground: How Jazz Can Change Your Life.” The party brought together Wynton’s many friends from all walks of life from New Yorkers like Thelma Golden, Scott Schiff, Jonathan F.P. Rose, Stanley Crouch, former Mayor David Dinkins and New York City Councilwoman Inez Dickins, sports hero Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, as well as performers Bernadette Peters, Lynn Whitfield, Ben Vereen and Wendell Pierce, and television anchors Harry Smith and Maurice DuBois. Everyone was treated to a special performance by Wynton and his quartet including Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra members Ali Jackson, Dan Nimmer, Carlos Henriquez and Walter Blanding. Many Jazz at Lincoln Center Board members were also in attendance including Chairman, Lisa Schiff, Dick Cashin, John Arnhold, Diane Coffey, Alan Cohn, Tom Lee, Mark Rosenthal, Marshall Sonenshine, Marlene Hess, Ed Lewis. |

| The Cinema Society joined with Chanel and Vogue to hold a super-glam screening of one of the hottest tickets of Fashion Week, The Duchess starring Keira Knightley, directed by Saul Dibb and based on Amanda Foreman’s best-selling biography of Georgianna Spencer, the Duchess of Devonshire in the late 18th century. Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley plays the duchess who was the great-great-great-great aunt of Diana, Princess of Wales. Their lives and histories in many ways mirrored each other, at once ravishing, glamorous, adored by their contemporaries and also tragic. The film also stars Dominic Cooper who with Knightley was also present at the Public Theater screening as well as the supper which followed at the brand new Cooper Square Hotel.
