Gala Previews and Masked Balls

Last Thursday night at the Javits Center, Lamborghini hosted the East Side House Settlement Gala Preview of the 2008 New York International Auto Show which benefited the East Side House Settlement. The glamorous evening included a Lamborghini exhibition, a private preview of the entire auto show, a cocktail gala for the benefit committee, and a dinner for sponsors and benefactors. 

The event is chaired by Joan Young, Phil Yang and Michael Moreno. The benefit committee is chaired by Tatiana Platt, Fe Fendi and Annie Churchill. Among those attending were Fe Fendi and Alessandro Saracino, Cristina and Chris Cuomo, Reem Ackra, Fabiola Beracasa, Sessa and Richard Johnson, Peter Bacanovic, Alvin Valley, Jonathan and Somers Farkas,  Alex and Luann DeLesseps, Maggie Katz, Holly Lang, Chessy Wilson, Martina Basabe, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Blair Clarke, Davina Catt, Linz Lange, Di Petroff, Melissa Berkelhammer, Stephen Jacoby, Kevin O’Malley, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman, Candida Romanelli, John Sanchez, Bill and Katie Elder, Samantha Gregory, Kim Hicks, Tiffany Koury.

The evening’s highlight was alive auctionof a 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 by Christie’s Auctioneer Richard Brierley. The car went for $340,009.  The evening raised $900,000. All proceeds will benefit East Side House Settlement.

The Young Fellows of The Frick Collection held their annual masked gala, this year called “Un Ballo In Maschera” in support of the museum’s Education Program.  The Young Fellows’ party is one of the Parties of the Year for the younger social set in New York. This year’s event was co-chaired by Byrdie Bell, Lydia Fenet, Tinsley Mortimer, Caralie Charriol Paul and Elisabeth Saint-Amand. Elie Saab was honorary chair and one of the sponsors (who also dressed the Event Chairmen and Vice Chairman), along with Belvedere Vodka, as was Ivanka Trump who was vice-chairman (Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry jeweled the Event Chairmen and Vice Chairman). Founding Chairs were Marina Rust Connor, Lauren duPont, Nathalie Gerschel Kaplan, Martha Loring and Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer. Benefactor chairs were Juan and Marianna Sabater. More than 650 attended.

There was a kick-off party hosted by Redbook Magazine at the Hearst Tower for the upcoming Safe Horizons Champion Awards Luncheon. Stacy Morrison, Editor-in-chief of Redbook will be this year’s Champion Award recipient at the 13th Annual luncheon that Safe Horizons will hosts on May 8th at the 69th Regiment Armory on Lexington and 28th Street.

More than 1000 are expected to gather to share stories of triumph and renew commitments to help victims of violence heal and rebuild their lives.  With the support of Corporate Chair Neil Rubler, President and CEO of Vantage Properties, this year Safe Horizon will celebrate their work with children impacted by violence and abuse.
