The Four Seasons celebrated its 50th anniversary with a gala event this past Thursday evening that brought together the restaurant’s most devoted (not to mention prominent) patrons and fans, including celebrities, a virtual “Who’s Who” from the worlds of business, media, politics and fashion.

| Five decades and 200 seasons later, the landmark restaurant has been synonymous with gracious dining, high standards of food and service, the most sought-after clientele and groundbreaking design. The Four Seasons, which first opened in July 1959, was designed by Philip Johnson, one of the 20th century’s finest architects. Its interiors were executed by interior decorator William Pahlman. What they created was the “jewel” of the famed Seagram Building. When it was built, the restaurant’s design was groundbreaking and no expense was spared in its creation. Everything from furnishings to the glassware was designed specifically for the restaurant and today is part of the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. |
