Parrish Art Museum's Midsummer Party, Honoring Dorothy Lichtenstein at Parrish Art Museum in Southampton. |
| The Parrish Art Museum in Southampton held its annual fundraising gala this past Saturday in a tent set up outside the museum’s galleries. Called the Midsummer Party. This is a great local event that brings out the collectors, connoisseurs as well as the Hamptonites who support culture in the community. The big ticket is the dinner dance where they honored Dorothy Lichtenstein, the widow of Roy Lichtenstein. This year's "After Ten" party which follows with the younger set in attendance is one the hippest social events of the summer. More than 500 turn out for the drinks, dancing and dessert, and they rock the big air-conditioned tent. Peter Duchin and his Orchestra provided the music, Great Performances the cocktails and dessert. Co-chairs of "After Ten" were Arden Wohl, Stella Schnabel, Tripoli Patterson, Samantha Greenes, and Jeff Goldstein. Among the boldfaced ones attending were Kelsey and Camille Grammer, Robert Wilson, Debbie Bancroft, Geoffrey Bradfield, Tatiana and Campion Platt, Malcolm Morley, Charles Cowles, Jan Cowles, Keith Sonnier, Jane Freilicher, Diana Picasso and Gilles Bensimon, Ross Bleckner, Douglas Cramer, Agnes Gund, Julia Koch, Eric Fischl and April Gornik, Jo Carole and Ronald Lauder, Trisha Brown, Jay and Kelly Sugarman, Whitney and James Fairchild, Pat Patterson, Somers and Jonathan Farkas, and the evening's honoree, Dorothy Lichtenstein. They raised approximately $700,000 for the museum, surpassing their goal of $608,000. |
