A quick din at Crispo

6.14.06 – After a shoot one late afternoon/early evening JH and I headed down to 14th Street (between 7th and 8th) and a little Italian restaurant called Crispo for a brief business conference and some quick din before getting back to work.

We sat in the open air garden in the rear of the restaurant. The blazing sun was just hitting the horizon, and so it was very light out. This was a second time visit in the past couple of weeks since we were in the neighborhood. Crispo is very casual, mainly younger clientele winding down the day. It has a very hardy and tasty menu.

I had a salad of arugula, asparagus tips, tomatoes and parmesan shavings followed by Spaghetti Carbonara. JH had the hanger steak. Plus two Peroni beers, some sparkling water. Total: $67 plus tip.

NYSD has entered that time of the year when the events are not beckoning by the wagon-load. Sometimes there’s even Nothing on the calendar (for us anyway). It comes as a relief, a chance for a respite, and the somewhat confounding unNew York experience of having some time to think and look around.
