One night a couple of weeks ago in New York HENNESSY COGNAC presented the launch of Tracy Stern’s third book, “Tea Party: 20 Themed Tea Parties” at Christie’s Auction House in Rockefeller Center.  Hennessy, which has previously collaborated with Ms. Stern in concepting and creating the trend of the SOCIE-TEA Cognac Cocktail,fêted the SALONTEAfounder, entrepreneur, designer, artist and lifestyle personality with a tea-cognac cocktail party. Dances dressed a la Marie Antoinette, hundreds of fuchsia and orange balloons, a tea tent swathed in fuschia silk, a revolving disco ball, tea leaf readers and much more.  Tea-hee.

The 18th century disco theme and tea-cognac cocktail showcased Ms. Stern’s fun and fabulous take on throwing effortless parties to celebrate life and friends.  Ms. Stern’s adage, “enjoy life, drink tea, celebrate often” (well, why not?) was the order of the evening.

Indeed, guestswere treated to unique tea canapés and sweet delectables from Ms. Stern’s recipes adapted by Tentation Potel & Chabot and paired with her specially blended teas (hot and cold). There was the Disco Tea Cognac Cocktail and Hennessy X.O on a Rock, and oo-wee, what a little cognac can do-oo-wee.

Ms. Stern was wearing a couture Gustavo Arango gown, distributing personalized copies of her book for adoring fans such as Lisa Anastos, Gustavo Arango, Derek Blasberg, Geoffrey Bradfield, Alex Charriol, Colin Cowie, Ann Dexter Jones,  Patrick MacDonald, Campion Platt, Leven Rambin, Nicole Romano, Kate Schelter, Kristina Stewart, Vivienne Tam and Arden Wohl. Gift bags were chockfull of miniature Hennessy X.O bottles, tea packets, the Disco Tea Cognac recipe, Hennessy mini-snifters, SalonTea soap, SalonTea bath salts, SalonTea incense and SalonTea lotion.

Tracy Stern is the creator of SALONTEA, a line of specially blended teas and tea that has attracted such devotees as Oprah Winfrey, Kim Cattrall, Blaine Trump, Candace Bushnell and many more.  She is also the author of Creative Living, Entertaining with Tea and now Tea Party (Random House, May 2007). Tea-ed out maybe, but not teed-off, no?

Two Friday’s ago, the Thomas G. Labreque Foundation held its 5th annual “TGL Classic”run to raise funds for lung cancer research. The run is New York’s only road race for research into the deadliest form of cancer with 7000 runners (and walkers) raising almost $1 million.

The 4-mile race was inaugurated in 2003 to raise awareness and funds for research after the sudden death of Thomas G. Labrecque, a non-smoker who was a major force in the revitalization of New York City and a former chairman of Chase Bank.
