They sold out seats for the 10th Annual Collaborating for a Cure Benefit for the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation and raised a record-breaking $5.7 million. The evening’s host, Chevy Chase incited a $60,000 bidding war when a private dinner party with Chevy himself hit the auction block. Also up for auction was a round of golf with the alluring Mark Wahlberg. Celebrity guests included singer Nick Lachey and his entourage of handlers, actress Ileana Douglas, Cancer 101 founder Monica Knoll and actor Jesse Johnson fresh from filming “Prey” with his hot momma Patti D’Arbanville who just signed on for the 5th season of ‘Rescue Me’.

The Plumm co-owners Chris Noth, who plays Mr. Big on Sex in the City and Detective Mike Logan on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Noel Ashman hosted a benefit for Rainforest Action Network (RAN) at their New York City hotspot.

Kristin Davis of Sex in the City, Patricia Clarkson of Six Feet Under and Richard Belzer and Dann Florek of Law & Order: SVU also attended, as did designer Luca Missoni’s daughter Jennifer, who has guest starred on Law & Order. Noth conducted an impromptu auction of a three-night stay at the Hotel Plaza Athenee, including a dinner with him and Patricia Clarkson at which the actor promised to give behind-the-scenes anecdotes. The auction contributed to RAN’s raising more than $47K during the evening.

“We were so grateful that Chris threw this party for us for the second year in a row,” said RAN executive director Michael Brune. “It’s a great opportunity to share what we do and get a new crowd of people involved in securing a greener future.”

"We can't afford not to act,” said Noth. “The time has passed to just be giving money. The Rainforest Action Network hand-delivers you issues you can talk to politicians about, alerts you to what the government is doing, where to write to protest -- how to take action."

Noth’s Law & Order co-star Alicia Witt, along with singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb, entertained the crowd.

RAN works to protect the Earth’s forests and support the rights of their inhabitants through education, grassroots organizing and non-violent direct action. RAN accomplishes its mission through dynamic, hard-hitting corporate campaigns that strive to bring company policies into alignment with popular support for conservation. RAN works in alliance with environmental and human rights groups around the world, including indigenous communities and non-governmental organizations.
