Last week 400 people gathered at the Rainbow Room for Symphony Space’s Gala, honoring Legends and Friends, Jacques d’Amboise, Fionnula Flanagan, David W. Levinson, Elizabeth Richesbourg Rea and George Wein, and raised $600,000 for Symphony Space’s programs.

Unique in New York City’s cultural landscape, Symphony Space—which presents more than 500 events each year in music, literature, dance, theatre, and film for adults, youth, and families—is the only New York venue where one can see the likes of comedian Amy Sedaris; Alfred Hitchcock’s classic, Rear Window; composer John Corigliano; literary giant Mavis Gallant; children’s folk singer Tom Chapin; and jazz innovator Patricia Barber all in one house, and all in one season.

One of New York’s preeminent and most reasonably priced cultural resources since 1978, Symphony Space is a leader in adventurous programming. Educational outreach initiatives complement wide-ranging artistic offerings and constitute an integral part of its mission to make the arts accessible to the broadest possible demographic. Symphony Space’s programs attract diverse audiences from throughout New York City and the metropolitan area and, including recording, touring, and media efforts, reach hundreds of thousands of people nationwide each year.
