|This past Tuesday night New Yorkers for Children hosted the 10th annual Fall Gala to benefit youth in foster care in New York City. Mary J. Blige was honoree, Anderson Cooper was Host, Ne-Yo performed, an amazing young woman named Shantel Schloss was recipient of the Spirit Award. They raised more than $1.5 million (with Jamie Niven from Sotheby’s raising nearly $300,000 in a live auction).
Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta – the founding father of this charity, and Commissioner John Mattingly were Honorary Chairs. Co-chairs were Nina and Mitch Davidson, Oscar de la Renta, Susan and Tony Gilroy, Nancy and Andrew Jarecki, Kevin Lilies, Shirin von Wulffen and Frederic Fekkai, and Stephanie and David Wolkoff.
